compressor fittings

basically, i "borrowed" shall we say, an airbrush and compressor of my uncle, but the airbrush has been miss used and ill treated over the last few years, this air brush mush is a devilbiss autograph 63, works sort of, if i want a huge spread, the other nozzles are knackered, but my problem is with the compressor itself, works fine with this brush but the fittings don't seem compatible with any other i have tried, my friend paints cars and has a few spray guns and airbrushes laying around but all use different connectors. mine uses what i can only describe as a tyre fitting, you know the screw types used on both car and pushbikes.

anyway, does anyone know if there are any other airbrushes about that will work with this fitting or am i gonna need to actually find some kind f new fitting for my compressor.

any help would be gratefull.

I think the best thing for you to do would be to take the airbrush, hoses & compressor to a local hobby shop that sells airbrush equipment to get advice troubleshooting from someone there w/ more experience. If that fails to find a fitting solution, then try a local hardware store for compressor fittings. Another option is to just go buy a new airbrush, but be sure to take the compressor w/ you & try to find a model that will fit right.

When it comes to fittings & adapters for stuff like this can be a real pain at times because some manufacturers will custom make all the connectors for some of their products because it allows them to then demand whatever prices they want for replacement pieces & helps ensure future business of the company. I just went through a similar issue trying to get different styles/brands of airbrushes to fit my compressor. In the end, I just ordered a new hose from the manufacturer online. Hope that gives you some options, but I honestly have no clue if the fittings are different over in Europe than what's used here in the states. Good luck!

thanks alot, this compressor is huge to say the least so i think i'l carry this hose around with me and see what airbrushes i can find or hoses+ airbrushes will work with it, i was considering tjust scrapping the whole set up and starting again but a free compressor that works very well is just great, should be easier for me to find hose+air brush to fit it than the expensive option of a new compressor+ brush
