Colt airsoft prop?

There any movies that used a Colt MK IV as the base for a prop? I have an airsoft version that I'd like to try to make, or replicate a prop out of.

Hello, I have heard of a couple but the first that pops to mind is the Ray Guns used in the holo-deck programs on Star Trek: Voyager!
I have some pics of the weapons used and it claims they are modeled on the Colt .45 for the Chaotica stories!
You might be able to see one at screen cap site, Trekcore.com, in the episode "The Bride of Chaotica"! Hope that helps, Petseal

Well, I didn't find a screencap of that prop, any one have some general ideas for me to try? I can post some pics of this if anyone wants them.

Hi KrashKing405,
I had planned on posting a few pics of the ones used on Voyager showing the color variations between Paris's and Kim's Lasers but I can't find them now!
If I do I will post them for you ASAP!
I have also heard that they are based on the Colt .45 but they are toy department squirt guns! I have no idea if that is true or not and again I can't find the article I read it in!
The problem I have is I have several projects on the go and I am forever looking into my books or scouring the net! So I pick up all kinds off information!
Then it comes up later and I remember something about it! But I can't remember where I heard/read it before!
I have been told that that is one of the first signs of aging but I can't remember where I heard that! :unsure
Later, Petseal

Thanks for the help, I've been trying to track down some kind of prop to model this after, or to get some insperiation from. Any pointers, or examples would help, as this is my first prop attempt.

The smart pistol in "Runaway" had a Government Model grip, and so was probably just a shell on a government model, or one of the copies. Randy Quaid's pistols in "The Adventures of Pluto Nash" were Government Models (or one of the copies) with shells on them.

Hi KrashKing405
Another Sci-Fi weapon based on a Colt .45 is the gun used by Gina Torres as Zoe or Jewel Staite as Kaylee from the movie Serenity!
I am sure I saw a resin pull of one on this site not a day or so back! But I did a search and came up empty! All I can find anywhere right now is Mal's and Jayne's revolver look-a-likes!
Basically looks like a Colt with exaggerated details!
Might give a look and if I find anything I will post it here for you!
Best of luck, Petseal

Hello again,
I just did something I should have done from the start, I went looking for a Colt MK IV!
I found a Colt Trooper MK IV which is a revolver!
And a Colt Gold Cup Series 80 MK IV which is an automatic! This is the one I pictured so it is the one I was trying to match up to!
So my next question is your gun a pistol or an automatic?

The 45 1911 base gun from Runaway wasn't a Colt.It was a Detonics Scoremaster.:cheers:thumbsup

Well, I did say either a Colt, or one of it's copies. :)

I know that Tom Selleck, and Cynthia Rhodes used Detronics Score Masters as their duty weapons, and compact Detronics Combat Masters as their undercover pistols. Was Gene simmons's Smart Pistol also built on a Detronics?

Okay, as I think about it, the Smart Pistol grip did look like it was stainless steel, so it too was probably also a Detronics. I believe that at the time, it was the only production stainless steel Government Model patterned .45 on the market. Well there was also the Randall pistols, but I don't know of any of them ever being used in a film, or tv show. Plus I believe that the Randall company was also defunct by then.

It is an automatic, actually says Series 80 on the slide too. The gun came with a mock site that hooks to the top of a shell that is screwed over the barrel, with a laser underneath. If anyone wants, I can get a picture of it from a couple different angles.

That was me.
