Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break for a while - thanks for the kind words

first, Congratulations for the addidtion of the little one..

Seriously a sweet display man cave for sure... your wife is awesome in her understanding lol..

i think my favorite feature has got to be your secret closet.

Akuma13

Thanks Akuma13....

Yes, my wife is very very very understanding. Thankfully. She's used to random things showing up at the house which is great. "what's that?" "batman capes" "what's that?" "Picard's head" "what's that?" (truck backs up *beep* *beep* *beep*) "5 foot Airwolf"...

Yea.. it's an interesting life.

The closet is definitely great - even provides some extra storage space for the kitchen.

Post office guy just dropped this off at my office:
Another amazing Hydin crystal - With a nice plaque to go with it.

Heck, your house alone is stunning, not to mention the contents.

Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break... hah - who am I kidding

the rooms amazing no other way to describe it, any collector would be lucky to have half of it =p

Well thank you - My house is an architectual mystery (disaster?) The house was built in 1909 and hasn't really changed since that time. I didn't have the hear to destroy any it so I kept it the way it was and then built an extension to the house that was totally contemporary and modern. I feel like I have the best of both worlds - but it's kind of like living in "two-face's" house. :)

Well thank you Radion - It's amazing how quickly collections can build up after only a few years on the RPF... :confused
By the way - I'm always a little slow with PM's I got yours regarding the Dredd helmet and blade costume info - I'll reply sometime tomorrow. :thumbsup

There are a few here which have been done like that. 1920s up front, ultra modern in the back. I sort of have something similar with mine as a matter of fact.

Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break... hah - who am I kidding

Still cleaning - dusting - rearranging.... sigh when will it ever end!? :cry

But I thought I'd share a little something I picked up yesterday. It's an annigrand star destroyer. I'm really surprised that this kit has so much detail, it's my first SD model.

I'll have to make a base for it - I'm thinking of putting a micromachines blockage runner next to it. I know that the blockade runner isn't accurate, it's too fat.. and that putting it next to the annigrand model isn't canon to ANH - but who's going to know? (well, now all of you..)

Hmm - okay - onwards to some pics - many more pics of other goodies later on this week. (big yellow guy in the back is a lifesized anh vader i'm working on)

Just send me some stuff, then you have to clean less... :lol I would be happy to release you from this dirty, ugly Proton Pack or these Indy Props... :)

Anyway, looks like fun. I always like to re-arrange my props...

Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break... hah - who am I kidding

Wow! That kit is unreal! Jealous :p

Seriously amazing collection lad, cant wait to see what else you come up with

Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break... hah - who am I kidding

WOW! I can't belive it!!! I am sure you're a lucky guy with so much space for your collection... :love

... and of course with a wife who suffer your hobby in this dimension... :thumbsup

Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break... hah - who am I kidding

Jeez, the details on that ship is just mind boggling! I could probably sit and stare at that thing all day.

On an unrelated note ... am I the only who is just as fascinated with the backgrounds of Thomas' pics as I am with the actual subject?!

Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break... hah - who am I kidding

Congratulations to the child and to an awesome collection. Don´t take this the wrong way but I can´t see the forest as there is too much trees, if you know what I mean:lol

If I were you, I would get rid of all the extra items that you have more than one edition of. It takes away the entire feeling when looking at 5 Vader helmets at the same time for an example.
I you had a life size statue of Vader, and thats it, it would be a much more impressive collection in my mind:cool
Now it´s almost the feeling like these picures were taken at the Lucas Ranch:lol

I like the hidden door very much:thumbsup

Thanks for the tip. I'm in the process of trying to showcase only a few pieces. It has been a challenge to make every piece of my collection "the star"
I can totally understand that having too many things can really detract from the collection as a whole. Perhaps I'll ask my wife if I can expand to other rooms in the house! wish me luck... if I don't log on in a few days send out the search parties! :)

Actually - I'm going to make one lifesized anh vader that should blow the rest of my collection away. Then I'll be able to make the other pieces of my collection less prominent. I'll do the same for other sections of my collection.

By the way - I'm still working on those batman suits that I got from you a year ago or so. I still love them, I'm just collecting all the accessories.

I appreciate the advice :thumbsup

Yes - my wife - I love her to death because she puts up with my collecting. Though sometimes there are some props that she asks me to get. She loves sci fi just like me.

You're always welcome Si - just pop in whenever you have time :) We'll tell "V" that something went wrong with my electromagnetic locks and we "couldn't get out of the basement"

Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break... hah - who am I kidding

if you really need to get rid of some of your stuff, don´t hesitate to let me know.
you can always send your items my way, Thomas!

you know i love your collection!

Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break... hah - who am I kidding

You can NEVER!!! have too much. It can not be done. More is better. More, more and then a little more.

Seriously,...Wow!!!! What a Collection.

Love Airwolf to death. The Pilot is still better than most movies to this day. I can't believe you have the actual RC model.

BTW, and forgive me for being rude but what in the heck do you do for a living,..I meen dammmmmmmmm!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I'm sorry to be rude but I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one wondering.

I'm a Teacher BTW

Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break... hah - who am I kidding

Just saying I want to be you when I grow up! Awesome collection. I like your rocketeer props! Very nice!

Re: Collection Showoff- taking a break... hah - who am I kidding

This post is dedicated to Rylo... who doesn't believe that I have one of his cryocans :lol

Actually - I, like everything else haven't found the proper way to display it yet and that's why it hasn't gotten it's own picture.

This is one of the older cryocans. Rylo actually has some newer and improved cryocans up in the junkyard right now!. The upgraded ones have a red gasket on the bottom. (and they all come with labels for the test tubes which I haven't put on yet)
http://www.therpf.com/f13/jp-cryocans-final-run-shipping-last-call-98547/
I would consider this can one of the "oldie but goldie" props on the RPF. If you're going to have one prop in your collection, I would recommend this being a top contender. (Rylo is also one of the "oldie but goldie" members here... but don't call him an "oldie"... he still thinks he's young :angel)

LOOK at this beautiful prop. The barbasol can is perfect. It fits perfectly onto the base (and I mean perfectly!) The graphics are bold, crisp and will never smudge. When the cover is on, it really feels like a can of shaving cream. I keep pushing the top and expecting some shaving cream to come out. Plus, the inner rings keep the cover can from deforming. You can squeeze the sides of this can hard and it will never dent.

The inner workings are just amazing. When you turn the base the inner rings just - *skint!* pop right up... just like the movie.

I tried to take pictures in a way to show just how complicated and difficult it must have been to engineer something like this in metal, and just how precise Rylo is when machining metal. All the holes are the exact same size and every level lines up perfectly.

I'm not really that into JP props - but this was the only prop I had to get because of the sheer coolness.. =P

okay - enough talk - on to the pics.
