It's been a while since I've attempted a costume in earnest.

Being a lover of G.I. Joe, but more appropriately, COBRA!, I decided to try to source as many practical parts for this Alley Viper...

Please feel free to constructively help me as I go.

A a few issues I will have as I slowly progress:

1. Dyeing the fabrics to match my Navy blue as closely as possible. I need to color match the M65 vest, and a groin protector. Also need to decide whether color removing a commando sweater then dying grey is an option.

2. Will the Medium M65 vest work with the groin protection I have or will I have to have someone fabricate a large piece?

3. Will the vest dye navy blue? Or should I use blue tulip fabric spray?

I have sourced a few parts, MP5 from airsplat, Hakkotsu mask from evike, Pit Viper Studios awesome helmet! I plan on I purchasing grey proper bdus, and have multiple tactical belts that will work with this outfit as well as a sidearm holster & Cobra knife.

So it appears I will be using VHT Vinyl spray to color match the vest and groin protector. The colors won't match up as the flak vest will not hold a deep dye color well...
I will have to have custom forearm guards built and possibly shoulder pieces since the troopers appear so unique.

I'm thinking of using Instamorph for the armor designs...They are a bit simple and hopefully within my scope of sculpting skill

I ordered some leggings since the chaps order was canceled...image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

I have loved the G.I.Joe cartoon since I was little, along with M.A.S.K. and Dungeons & Dragons and other less well-known concepts.
And yes,Cobra has better looking outfits :D
I hope your costume will become a succes

Man, this thing is really coming together. I really like those gauntlets/bracers, but everything looks great so far. Is the helmet from Pit Viper Studios? I would love to have one, but I have a really small head, and I know it wouldn't look right on me. One of these days I'm gonna try to make one from foam following Evil Ted's Youtube tutorial.

It is a Pit Viper helmet. Really the best choice, but for something custom like this it is a problem. The helmet is a bit large and required padding to keep it off my vest collar a bit.

Sorry for the slow progress, field problems abound and vacation looms ahead. I plan on purchasing some shoulder pieces to try and match as closely as possible.

More slow ass progress...I secured the shoulder pad with a bobby pin. I was surprised at how well it stayed in place. Anyways, I need to secure both shoulders then I'll be about 90% complete.
