CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

I know her death is what Vader was supposed to believe when finding the saber (though I suspect he really didn't believe it but just kpet his mouth shut so the Empire stopped hunting her). But was that her intention? Wondering if Filoni spoke to this issue directly.

In this YouTube video, the poster quotes Filoni on the topic. Go to mark 3:40.

Not sure what was super ambiguous. She left HER saber in front of helmets with HER face one them, which has been buried. It seemed like equal parts "offering for the dead" and equal parts "I'm still out there" if it ever got back to Vader or another Jedi.

BUT, if two years from now they put something out that specifies exactly why she did it, and exactly what Vader thought, and it's different? I'll survive.

I'm not losing sleep over it or anything. But Filoni had something specific in mind with that scene. Is playing coy with what was going through Ahsoka's mind at that moment really going to ruin any surprises down the road?

I guess maybe? But like you said, if it comes out later on that as she was looking at that lightsaber, she was actually thinking about, say, how she spent most of her life working for an utterly failed system, or about her beloved master who gave her that (upgraded) saber and was most likely dead for all she knew - is anyone's mind going to be blown? Just saying - sometimes I think show-runners are unnecessarily oblique.

Maybe all of those thoughts - plus, faking her death - were going through her head simultaneously. Not sure she'd want to advertise that "she's still out there," though, when the most likely party to find that wreckage would be the Republic-about-to-become-Empire that wants to kill her.

I loved the bad batch. But I also loved the D'Squad droid story too so I may be a bit biased, lol

I look forward to see what they do with characters, like Mara Jade's Father said, "especially if explores the clones after the war."

With it being set right after the clone wars, I think I could get into it. If they were going to go back and just fill in the bad batch history I think it would be a hard pass for me.

This way, it should be fun.

It was a very satisfying ending, and while I thought the Bad Batch was fun, I don’t need a series based around them.
If this was going to be a series about them in the Clone Wars, then yes, I would agree. But if this is about them after the fall of the republic, then I am extremely interested. Because I would like to see what happens to the clones after Order 66 and how they deal with it and especially those that may have broken the programming.

I’m late, but I finally watched the Seige of Mandalore arc and finished out the season, and I was surprised that I actually got choked up at multiple points. Apparently I like Ahsoka more than I realized.

I just saw the end last night. Just blown away - it was amazing. I kind of put it off because once i see it, that's it, it's over. Leaving it hanging (for me at least) left me with the sense there's still 'more to come'.

Alluding to a different discussion, THAT is how you tell a great story when you already know the basic outcome. It has been a while since i saw the first 5 years of the CW - but i didn't recall that big a connection between the clones and Asohka, but they totally sold it on the final story and it made the whole thing so amazingly bittersweet.

Have to say i feel a bit for Maul after that. He gets his one victory in TPM which is short lived as he get chopped in half a few minutes later, goes through everything to get back and gets owned by Sidious in what? S5? comes back again, gets owned by Asohka in the end, picks up the pieces to get taken down again by Obi Wan. Poor guy never ever caught a break :)
