Ugh, that's lame. I don't understand why they would cut off like half the market of folks who want to see these episodes.
If the rumors are true, the exclusivity is for a limited time. If I had to guess, I'd say they would release the episodes on disc 6-12 months later.
This is not anything unusual these days. Netflix has original programming. On demand has exclusive rights before movies go on sale or through rental, etc... Apple TV is seeing similar devices on the market and this sort of thing will end up in increased sales of the units.
I got my Apple TV already so I'm okay with the rumor if it comes true.
"Star Wars fans - I have some exciting news! We have wrapped production on all of the remaining Star Wars: The Clone Wars episodes, and while that might be sad news in one way, it's good news in another. It means you will finally get to see them. When, exactly, is a detail I cannot yet share. I can confirm that in early 2014 you will be watching the final episodes of The Clone Wars, including one of Master Yoda's most challenging missions. So, get ready. We've got Clone Wars and Rebels coming at you in 2014. Animated Star Wars is alive and well. Trust in the Force my friends."

Paul,
For the benefit of those that are interested, I'd like to pass on some useful info concerning The Clone Wars Season 5 blu ray set. I previously wrote in about the sound issues on the set, where many episodes such as The Lawless and Missing in Action on disc 2 had audio that was slightly out of sync with the video. In addition, some people couldn't get the discs to even play on new blu ray players. Well, after contacting Warner Bros., they are aware of the issue (the sync issue is present in all the sets; whether one finds it distracting enough to worry about is another question). Warner Bros. is currently printing corrected discs, and if you call (800) 553-6937, they will take your name and info and mail you replacement discs when they arrive.
Thanks for passing this along!
Josh M.
