CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

interesting tease, with the dilapidated state of the TIE, definitely looks to be out of the clone war era and into ep VII territory.

NEW ANIMATED SERIES STAR WARS REBELS COMING FALL 2014
May 20, 2013
Production has begun on Star Wars Rebels, an exciting, all-new animated television series based on one of the greatest entertainment franchises of all time. Scheduled to premiere in fall 2014 as a one-hour special telecast on Disney Channel, it will be followed by a series on Disney XD channels around the world.

Leading the development of the series is a creative team of exceptional talent. Screenwriter/producer Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) is an executive producer on Star Wars Rebels and will write the premiere episode. He is joined by Dave Filoni as executive producer, who served as supervising director of the Emmy nominated Star Wars: The Clone Wars since 2008. Executive producer Greg Weisman brings with him a wealth of animation experience with credits such as Young Justice, The Spectacular Spider-Man and Gargoyles.

Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, said, "The entire team at Lucasfilm has provided extraordinary creativity and innovation for over three decades, and we're thrilled to be bringing the expansive and imaginative world of Star Wars to Disney XD's viewers."

"I couldn't be more excited to explore new corners of the Star Wars universe," said Kathleen Kennedy, president, Lucasfilm. "I think Star Wars Rebels will capture the look, feel and fun that both kids and their parents love about Star Wars."

The action-filled series is set between the events of Episode III and IV -- an era spanning almost two decades never-before explored on-screen. Star Wars Rebels takes place in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape. Details about the show are a closely guarded secret at this point.

Star Wars Rebels will be produced by Lucasfilm Animation, featuring many of the key talents that made Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Fans attending Star Wars Celebration Europe will be the first to get an exclusive look at the new series. Casting will be announced at a later date. More information about this developing project will be found on StarWars.com and on Facebook at facebook.com/starwarsrebels.

New Animated Series Star Wars Rebels Coming Fall 2014 | StarWars.com

Oh man! thanks for posting this Mar Jade's Father! that was super sweet and the humor was just well done... can't wait to see what of season 6 they release... and look forward to Rebels in 2014!

D23 wrapped up this past week and no mention of anything to do with the unaired episodes.

My money is on direct to DVD movies. The recent season was 5 4-part story arcs. If this was the plan for next season then each arc would be perfect for an animated movie on disc.

You think it will only deal with the mystery of syfo dias and the mechanism used to make order 66 happen? Im guessing then ahsoka's exit was her exit from the series. From the Interviews it sounds like lucas wanted more of a closed and final scene for ahsoka then the one we got.

Had lucas had his way with ahsoka's fate, what do you think her death scene would have been like? would it have mirrored obi-wan's future death scene, where she sacrifices herself to give Anakin more time? Would she have somehow ended up dueling him (to prevent her dying at the hands of another jedi) and having him strike the fatal blow and die in his arms? Hearing Faloni talk about Lucas' intent with her character, had my mind reeling at the emotional resonance that could have come from an Ahsoka death scene. Any thoughts on how it would have played out had Lucas won that Ahsoka lives/dies tug of war?

Technically you wouldn't have to have Ahsoka killed in the series. During Revenge of the Sith, she could have been stationed on some frontline area and killed during order 66 like many other Jedi that were not shown in the movie.

Not saying that is what they were going for or even that is the best way to approach it. Just a possibility.

What if she shows up in Episode 7 as a Jedi Vader Kept a secret and safe on a distant planet so the Emperor wouldn't sense her and he wouldn't have to kill her.

And you really think that Snips would have just quietly stay put all of this time? She's never struck me as the type to just sit around and lay low, I don't think she even knows how.

Who said she wasn't active in the rebellion during the ORIGINAL TRILOGY? It's not like we saw every rebel and every activity of the rebels during that time.

However I doubt Vader would give her a pass. Like I said several times before, if she kept her force gifts under the radar, she could have served in the rebellion after she left the order and not draw attention.
