CLONE WARS weekly discussion thread

Thanks.

But no, I meant from anything going forward...

no forward spoilers at all... only just general, "hopeful" insight into her maybe being around for future stories... not even really any speculation.. just a glimmer of hope that she might have saved her own life by leaving and its possible that this could mean surviving order 66 but that was speculation on the writer of the article. its a good read but nothing at all is revealed.

The only for sure info is that Ashoka is still in the show. I personally do not think that should be a surprise.

Thanks guys.

Based on your previous comments, I am more inclined to believe it is more of a problem of you being able to understand the show

What's there to understand? It's a show that takes place in-between two movies where anything can happen so long as it doesn't leave an impact where the movies are concerned. Darth Maul still alive? Sure. Anakin had an apprentice? Totally. You could do almost anything in this series on a galactic scale and it wouldn't matter because everything will reset back to the norm.

Even if this series does something good for Star Wars it's still crushed under the prequel movies' own weight. If you ask me, I don't think this series should lead into Episode III and instead have stories that take place both during and after Episode III. Sure, you wouldn't be able to call it Clone Wars, but if the character of Ahsoka is of any concern, it would certainly make for a more interesting series.

That's terribly stupid. It leaves questions unanswered and story arcs unfinished.

Even the prequel movies left some questions unanswered. Remember how in the Episode I commentary that Lucas himself said Episode II would delve more about the prophecy of the Chosen One? It didn't. Or about the mystery surrounding who deleted Kamino from the Jedi library? He mentioned that one would be resolved too. If his own movies won't cover what he says they would cover, having the same thing happen to the series isn't anything new.

Hate to say it, it happens to a lot of good series.

I am not worrying about it until there are official announcements. I still expect the events to unfold this way.

Official announcement from cn and LFL that they have reach the end of their contract and have both chosen not to continue the relationship.

Shortly after.

Disney officially announces that Disney channel will air the CW.

There is also another piece of this puzzle, last year I heard that past episodes went into syndication. If that is true, then when does that start? Also, if true, who has bought syndication rights and are they exclusive rights? Was it Disney?

I thought it was mentioned here, but maybe. I read it elsewhere that some speculated that episodes could be released straight to video as movies. I would hate that but I could easily see that happening. Since these days each story arc is 4 episodes, they could be combined into one movie release. Release one every ten weeks and you get the equivalence of a season in one year.

Con, having to buy the discs.
Pro, not restricted to time limitations.

Hooray! More death to women!

I am pretty sure by when they say new direction, they are talking about delivery of the clone war storyline, not a new series.

The period between rots and Anh is reserved for the live action TV show. As you probably know from previous reports, at least fifty stories are written but due to the expense to do what they want in a series, the series was delayed until that technology becomes more affordable. However, because of this new announcement, even if the show now was cost effective, they most likely would not proceed due to LFL dedicating their resources to the new movies. I mean, if they can't afford the resources to move ahead with the animated comedy detours show, I doubt it bodes well for the hopes of other shows of any kind.

So I would guess that until the movies are done or Disney invests more into LFL in order for it to be able to handle multiple projects, we are not going to see any type of new TV programming.

you could be right but that's not at all how I read it or into it.
they clearly state: Lucasfilm has decided to pursue a new direction in animated programming. We are exploring a whole new Star Wars series set in a time period previously untouched in Star Wars films or television programming.

so the animation budget doesn't sound to me like an issue at all.. but the new story line sounds like something way other than the clone wars as its set in a new time period. And what time period is that? unless they are considering events prior to the Clone Wars... like way before!

Also I believe Detours just isn't considered appropriate at this juncture if they want the films to be taken seriously... why do a comedy now. So to me when they say : Lucasfilm has reconsidered whether launching an animated comedy prior to the launch of Episode VII makes sense. As a result, we've decided to postpone the release of Detours until a later date. I feel that means now is no longer the time to "make fun of Star Wars."
As for the scripts for the live action TV show I am betting that those scripts are getting rolled over into the new animated series and the live action TV show is being scrapped. Since they are already written and Clone Wars is winding down and a new series in a new timeline is being planned.. well, I bet those scripts are the basis for the new animated show. they clearly are intending to do both the full feature films and still do animated shows... doesn't sound like they are stretched thin in either money or staff to me.

The syndication already started here since September of last year. I have been watching the first two seasons on our local NBC station at 1pm saturday afternoons! (and Disney owns ABC not NBC so what does one make of that? ) :popcorn

Well I hope some type of serious Star Wars show comes to TV, animated or live. I'll be tuned in. I don't care what era.

About 20 years ago, it was great to be a Star Trek fan, you had a new movie always coming out, a show running and another in production to replace it, and reruns of tos. There was always something to look forward to. It would be great to see that happen to Star Wars.

Maybe disney hopes to do the same as they are doing with Marvel, a couple of movies each year (as they talk about doing stand alone movies as well as the continuation of the trilogy) and now a Shield TV show.

Not to get off subject but my wish is for the technology to be good enough for Harrison Ford to voice a young cgi version of himself (Jeff Bridges in Tron Legacy) for a Han Solo backstory.

None of the markets in this area picked it up.

With syndication, it is about who is willing to pay to air it. Here is some info:

here is a pdf that lists state by state and city by city with what date, time and station...

maybe you can find yours. now just like the normal season even syndication takes breaks and right now the syndication cycle is over... perhaps to be restarting in a few months... I'll keep my eye open for when it starts up again. (hell, some stations are airing it at 3 and 4 in the morning! yikes!)
