Here are some photos of my "Christine" death car built from the 1/25 scale AMT kit. I added the lights.

That looks great! I was barely out of high school when that came out, and worked part time at the theater and got the poster they had for it. I have it up on my wall at home.

I drove my Grandmothers 1978 2 door Fury for a bit after she quit driving, and it was always acting up and needing to be worked on. We began calling it Christine.

Thanks guys! Here are some more pics. I totally tricked out the engine with hoses and wires, I even scratched the dual carb air cleaners to make it truer to the scene in the movie. I also lit the speedometer and radio dial with a green glow. Everything runs off a 9V battery in the trunk. How could something so beautiful be so cruel eh?

Probably my favorite movie car of all. Excellent job with the kit. I have a copy of the kit myself I'll knock out someday. Great job with lighting i 1:25 scale!

Whats your technique for the paint finish?

Do you have a copy of the Celebrity Machines license plate?

Loving it. I had a 58' Belvedere 4-door about a million years ago it feels like now, always thought it'd be cool to make it a not-quite Christine knock-off.

Now what you should do is build a wrecked-version, and then put together a tutorial on how to do it. :lol I've always wanted to give this a shot, but was afraid I'd end up with 3 kits-worth of parts that were now unusable. :facepalm

Hi PHArchivist,

See answers in bold below...

Whats your technique for the paint finish? I airbrushed the body and top with Model Master Italian Red and Gloss White enamel. All trim was covered with ultra-chrome bare metal foil. I used polishing films after the paint cured before giving the body a rub down with Novus # 2 and # 1 polish.

Do you have a copy of the Celebrity Machines license plate? No. I don't know what those are.

Thanks for the compliments!

Something like this?

Or something more like what she looked like in the garage after getting vandalized?

Excellent - your finish most certainly reflects the steps you took.

Celebrity Machines does highly affordable and highly accurate picture car plate replicas. Search the main prop forum for "license plate"

Great work! I That shadowy shot with the lights really captures the character of the car a la the movie poster.

I love 80s movie car kits... so many iconic ones. I'm just waiting for someone to do a 1/25 1974 Dodge Monaco kit ;)

Haha Steve, I've seen that model of the beginning version before, but I should have specified; the vandalized car is the one I meant; hand-bending the body parts (and windshield shattering, and just about everything else)is waaaayyyy out of my comfort zone for building :)

Minor steam-rolling of the thread (for which I apologize), but you can see my copy of the plate in the background here:

Nice work mate. Love the detail you puted on the engine. I did mine the "simple" way :D
Great idea getting those lights

Great job!

I purchase the 1/18 diecast from Autoworld a few weeks ago, I love this car.

As a thought, you could find a 68 Charger kit and build Dennis Guilder's car...

Oh man that's a sweet ride!

I'll have to check out my LHS and see if he has one in 1/25 scale to go along with Christine.

Thanks! I think I spent more time on the engine than anything else.

Funny thing is I ended up getting a second kit as I semi-ruined the windshield and rear window using CA the first time around. So I have a complete kit (with somewhat messed up windows) I could use for a wrecked diorama.

Yup - I just got the 1:18 Charger die-cast.

Only mildly tricky part of doing it in 1:25 would be the rolling stock. Finding matching wheels and tires may be a bit tough, but probably not impossible. Otherwise any Charger kit would do (General Lee, Bullitt, etc.).
