Childhood pictures with your toys.

Went and found some more pics I had. I never was into action figures as a kid. More into building things, like legos, puzzles, and anything that had me building something.
So here getting this giant lego set, playdoh, and a nice new Micky Mouse lunch box.

Also loved the Waldo books, this one being the first I got...and still have it, duct taped and all.... I memorized where hes at, to where even now, I can find him on every page within 30 seconds. The other books, not so much.

Had a bunch of RC cars, but I'd always end up breaking them. Maybe I should have asked for two front teeth instead.

12th birthday. Got Starfox for SNES and TMNT3 on VHS tape, as I hadn't seen it at that point yet.

This not so much a gift, but was my birthday, and a friends I had back then. Being raised in church, our Mom's came up with the idea to do a biblical dress up party. If our name was in the bible, then dress up as that character. (not everyone did dress up though) I was Michael, the archangel. Good times...

I also had K'nex, and had made this truck from scratch, based on a truck my Grandpa had back then. So in 1996, we went to visit from Florida to Idaho, and I brought it with me to show him. Here I am in his backyard, and had picked up all these sticks and stuck them in the ground.....for some random reason.

So then in 1999, when we went to visit again, I then was in full force video mode, recording EVERYTHING. So then I put the sticks all over the backyard again, and filmed this. (low quality video unfortunately.) For a quick little Christmas video for the family in 2021, I edited it all together, and added sounds to this part. The whole video was over 20 mins, so this is just the one small part. For this part, my family was like, "ok, sure, thats cool"....but probably didn't really appreciate like everyone here would.

Thanks for sharing the pic. Never saw the box. Very cool. I think we got it at a yard sale or something.
I got a ton of toys from yard sales growing up, cap guns, sports equipment, board games, even clothes.

JediMichael I spent a few days trying to figure out why this picture just captured my attention:

And then it washed away just like most of my random thoughts. But today it struck hard and I pretty much lost my mind laughing. I had quite forgotten about it altogether, which is when the subconscious does my work for me:

Yes, I am a black bird......lol.

I don't know why it didn't come to mind when I first saw it but the Bowerbird builds a stage to show the girls all his cool stuff and puts these sticks in the ground to form a frame around the central staged items. Honestly, look up Bowerbird and watch some vids, you'll never see this picture the same again.

But somehow I get the feeling that stabbing the ground with a bunch of sticks isn't going to be getting me any girls any time soon.

It's not always success for the Bowerbird either. You just need to up your game, bigger/better sticks in the ground, work on the entry/archway a bit and keep collecting the trinkets. Lady Bowerbird is just a matter of time. It's not the method that needs adjusted but patience:

Well, got the arch part finished....you do mean this...right?
(I had to remember what thread this even was again....well, I guess Jurassic Park toys were a huge part of a childhood...maybe just not a near full sized gate....lol)

I have searched and am coming up empty. Looks like time to go visit mom and dig through pictures. These were great times and I swear I have some proof somewhere.
That feeling of “it’s show and tell day, and you’ve forgotten your thingamajig on the kitchen table”.

I recognize that ceramic Christmas tree on the table. How long did that last when the obvious saber battle kicked in? And the Hummel figurines singing carols.... So sad they had to die....
We actually still have them. After my grandmother retired as a teacher she went into the ceramics business. She had a small building full of Lone Star plaster molds, kilns, paint, glaze, everything. She made 2 of those light up Christmas trees for my mom and we had them up every year at the holidays when I was growing up. My mom gave me one of her two ceramic trees over a decade ago and we display it along with our Christmas stuff every year. Eventually I’ll have the other one too.
