Chewbacca Mask to be auctioned on ebay UK???/

How does a Chewie mask remain in such great condition and just about everything else from the OT end up in such a state.

Kind of morbid looking with his eyes closed and all (makes it look like somebody chopped off Chewies head). Still, would've been a helluva display piece. :eek

Sorry, guess I should have read the entire article. Mods please feel free to delete this.

That looks more like a prequel head than an OT , way too clean looking and the lips are different to the OT version.

IIRC, the cowl (essentially all of the gray hair) was a screen used Chewie cowl from the OT.

The remaining parts (face skin, teeth and face fur) were production spares and assembled over a lifecast of Mayhew.

I'm not sure who did the paint/finish/assembly but I will say that I've seen the piece in person several times and it's actually EXTREMELY good in person. I've yet to see a picture that captures it well.

In photos it always looks a little off or "prequel" (maybe a little too "clean?") but in person, it's VERY Chewie.

What exactly is the cowl? Is it like a hair net with some gray hair? Is that the only part of this mask that was original and screen used?

The rest of it, majority of the hair, nose, teeth, eyes, and parts you see, were unused production spares?

Are you sure?

Quite sure actually :) This piece was on display at our discussion panel about collecting movie props at Celebration IV.

The cowl is like a hood. A cowl of fabric with gray/brown hair tied into it. It covers the back, sides and top of the head. And yes, this part was original and screen used in the OT.

The other parts are all OT production spares (as noted above) but finished/assembled in the mid 2000's.

best,
Tom

Just looked again and it quotes " screen correct " rather than screen used , that along with your explanation Tom clears up our scepticism :cool

Does look great thgough even if the pics dont capture it well and sounds like a bargain if it went for that amount !
