Chewbacca Bowcaster Scratch Build

Figured I'd start a thread on this and I'll get around to doing one for my Chewie build as well. Anything to help keep the motivation up!

I've been sourcing parts and researching for quite some time on this and I've done a quickie mockup of the size to see how it looks. I used photos of some other members builds who had hortons as a base. Namely one that had their crossbow and one of the pinky balls in it. For overall length from furthest point of the stock to the outside face of the bow (at the centerline of the stock) I get 23".

Is this where I want to be? I've seen 27.5" as a length fit the prop. Is that from stock to barrel or just the stock up to the bow? On my quick mock up the size of the area where the imperial discs and knobs are just seems too cramped.

Total length of the bowcaster's base crossbow (i.e not including barrel or barrel support etc) is right around 26".

The plastic Hortons are a few inches shorter though.

Its looking really good. Your issue is not that uncommon. Chewbacca, well, wookiees in general are big creatures and thus the weapons they carry, like the bowcasters seem normal sized ratios for them but for us regular humans, they will seem massive in our hands. The same is for weapon builds that have been done for Spartans from Halo. The needler in Chief's hands looks like a pistol vs. for us it would be like the size of a standard SMG at the least. I too am going through those same motions with various weapon builds, so just know that the struggle is understandable.
