I was able to get back into the workshop last week and this morning I opened the kiln to nine fully glazed masks. This is just the first batch and I should have another batch of nine ready by the end of this week. That will give me half of my set for those who have expressed interest. My son has also managed to cut the Iroko block into squares ready to be drilled for the perspex rods. He managed to get 50 pieces from the available wood so plenty to go around. The drilling, oiling, felting and mounting to give completed sculptures will still take another couple of weeks at least but things are coming together. I'm using Danish oil to finish the Iroko blocks as it's natural product and gives a colour and sheen just like original mid-century examples.
