Celebrity jerks?

Folks, Hamill just turned 60, and while well kept, looks his age. Fisher recently turned 55 and looks like she could be his mother.

Yeah, but you got to love them both. I mean, Mark seams so nice, and for a guy how has done almost nothing of note since Star Wars (other then voice over stuff), I feel he has done a nice job, of both respecting the fans, and giving them attention (unlike some of his co-stars in those films), wall not looking like he's trying to milk it for all it's worth. (like say Billy D. or Kizz with there own stuff. Oh, god I'm so sick of kizz junk.) And Carry....Well... we may not want to see here in the gold bikini anymore, but I love her for "keeping it real". She has always been up front and honest about her life, and drug use, even here shock treatments, and struggles with weight. All that takes a lot of courage. She has never been afraid make fun of herself, or her past, and Like Mark, I don't at all feel like she is milking the who Star Wars film.

Some folks from those films (some nice, some really not) got to the drop of a hat, and wont stop telling you stories you really don't car about. Others like ford can't be reached, and when they are, don't dare mention Star Wars, or you have to here about all the other stuff they stared in, as they act like Star Wars was the low point in their life.

These two don't act like they are ashamed of it. They both recognize that it happed, and that it was a good thing in their lives, in a lot of ways, but that it may have also brought a little bad too. (though they don't wine about it endlessly) They both try to be as real as they can be. (from what I've seen anyway's, I have yet to meat them in person, though I came close with Carry.)

Look at that pic of Mark, I can't help but think he looks like the wise Jedi Sage that Lucas talked about using him as, in the other ( Yet to be made) Star Wars films. The ones he talked about in the 80s, and we are still waiting on.

Oh, and don't forget "When 900 years old you reach, look as good you will not... Hm."

Here's my funny John Schneider story. In 2000 I worked on this movie that John Schneider was in. It's called Lightning: Fire from the Sky, and it's terrible. He plays the father to a young Jesse Eisenberg
Lightning: Fire from the Sky -- Jesse Eisenberg - YouTube
It was the first film I ever worked on. I was trying to get a job as a PA. The guy who hired me was adamant that I worked craft service (ugh). I should have known the job was gonna suck when every local "foodery" refused to cater the film and I was the ONLY craft service guy to cater BOTH UNITS filming around the clock! So I was grocery shopping at 2:00-3:00 in the morning buying $12,000 worth of groceries for the next day, sleeping a couple hours, then making breakfast for the next group. It sucked,..and I slowly forced my way into the art department while "half-assedly" (yeah, I made that up) put out food.

ANYWAY...the final day of shooting....I thought...what would be fun to bring to craft service for our final night? F*ckin' s'mores right!!?? So I bought little tikki sp? torches and sticks and people could make s'mores right on the craft service table......what sucked was two things.

1. I didn't know we were shooting at a propane plant. S'mores are out unless you want them cold, and

2. It was late at night, cold and people wanted coffee...but based on a number of circumstances, and no outlets anywhere, there was no where to make it. All I had was coffee grinds.

The director was bitching about coffee...and John is standing in his trailer door and says "Kurt! You can make coffee in my trailer if you want!" SWEET! Thanks John!! So I get in there, look around. There's no way to make coffee in there either. Awesome. "Do you have a coffee maker?" I ask. "No" John says. But SOMEHOW, we have to get coffee to a pissed director.

Alright....I thought. How does a coffee maker work? John had a pot to boil water, but we had coffee grinds not instant coffee.....damn it,...so he pulls out a lighter to light his gas stove. I was concerned. We're STILL in a propane plant. "John......John......John.......John......(John lights his lighter) Bye John." And he lights his stove. (We Live) and are able to boil water. NEXT,...John goes to his room and comes back with a t-shirt...and we suspend the shirt over a coffee cup. In the middle of the shirt,..the grinds,....poured over the shirt? Boiling water. Coffee served. :D

John's a great guy, and left me with several good stories :D

That was a great story!! Thanks for sharing it. I've been a fan of John's since I was a teen... That just made it sweeter. :)

He was very professional when he was down for ECCC. Very nice to the fans and cordial to the staff. He genuinely seems to enjoy meeting the fans.

Well, I went to Mid-ohio-con, and met some folks.

James Marsters, was very nice, and professional. My girlfriend and I got into the con, bought a ticket to get a picture with him. They moved us a long very quickly. He gave us both a nice firm handshake, and a worm greeting, and we got our pic with him. After words, he shook each of our hands again, and thanked us for coming, I got the feeling that he would have been willing to talk a but more, but all the handlers moved us right now out of there, so the next person could come in, for their pic. There was a very small ad, in the program, under the Sunday bus schedule, Stating that you could "spend the evening with James". It didn't say much more, other then that there would be a screening of the "Supernatural" episode, that he would comment on, and then he would tell some stories after words, and such. We got all excited, and really wanted to go. After looking forward to it all day, and looking EVERYWHERE for more info about the event, we finally found out the rest of the deal. You had to buy tickets in advance (even though the add said NOTHING about that) And it cost an additional $50. a person. That may not seem like much to a lot of you con goers, but My girl and I only spent $40. to get in to the con. (that's total, to get both her, and I, in for both days.) Plus we spent $60. just to get our picture taken with him. (with no autograph included. )

I don't blame him in any way for the pricing though. The con was under new management, and I don't think they get that this is a podunk city, with one of the highest jobless rates in the nation.

We did get to see him do a Q&A
Sunday morning, and that was GREAT. (and free. ;lol) He was even nice enough to perform one of his new songs, just because a girl brought a guitar, and asked him to. :)

I also met Gil Gerard (Buck Rogers). Sadly there were very few people at his booth, either day. So I just walked up, and said Hi, introduced myself, and told him that I was a big fan, and that my Girl and I grew up watching his show. He gave me a very nice handshake, and was very friendly. I felt bad for not getting an autograph, but I just didn't feel like spending another $25. for another autograph, that I didn't really need.

Walter Koenig was there too. We had seen him do a Q&A earlier Sunday, and when we saw that he didn't have a line at all at his booth, we walked right up to him too. My girl and I told him what fans we were, and he barely looked at us, and said something like "good for you", and went back to reading a comic. :( Then again, He was pretty grumpy in his Q&A, so we didn't expect much.

Saw a Q&A with Claudia Christian (from Babylon 5) She was great. Very funny, friendly, and kept things moving. We didn't get a chance to do anything else with here, but we were very impressed. (My girl has never seen B5, and even she loved the Q&A, and thought Claudia did a great job)

They had Billy D. But we didn't bother with him, at all. (didn't talk to him, didn't buy any of his wears, and we didn't bother with his Q&A)

Adam West and Burt Ward were there. We missed there Q&A, and really had nothing to say to them, and didn't want an autograph, so there was no reason to go up to there booths.

Lastly, Mark Metcalf was there. Don't know who that is? Don't feel bad, it doesn't seem like anyone else did either. I don't think I saw a single person at his booth. I felt bad for him, and wanted to go over to talk to him, but couldn't think of anything to say to him. I mean, he was "the master" for the first season of Buffy, but............ Um..........I really could think of anything to say about that to him either.

Over all we had a lot of fun, and we really hope they bring these, and other starts back for next year. (This con, was dieing. It got bout a couple of years ago, and started to get WAY worse, and now Comic Con, bout it, and this was their first year in charge, and I really liked it. )

I'm surprised Koenig is doing cons after his son killed himself. That's gotta take a lot of happiness from a person's life.

I'm so glad that you and your girl had a great time at the con.

By and large, the outside events like the evening with James are put on by other companies that aren't part of the con itself so, yeah, you're going to see extra fees for them, unfortunately. James did a concert over at the Seattle Hard Rock when he was down here during the con weekend, and it was a similar situation.

A client of mine told me recently that she saw Mathew Fox in a hotel where i live in scotland. We're both big lost fans and she said she walked upto him, pen and paper in hand and he just flat out raised his hand in her face said ' i dont sign autographs" turned and walked off, she didnt even get any words out....she was gutted

We (and by 'we' I mean hubby and I - for interest, we met first at Toronto Trek '76) have had tons of meets between cons and our old jobs (I posted one of the...less appealing...ones earlier) - but one of the coolest meets we had was having a chance to speak to Dwight Schultz about his portrayal of Oppenheimer in "Fat Man and Little Boy". We were wandering through the con in the Toronto Convention Centre and he'd just finished with a group of Star Trek fans and had no one left in his line. He was scheduled to be there for another fifteen minutes, but lineups had started for some big presentation and it was like closing time in the rest of the con - almost no one wandering around. So we went up and he was very gracious, but once we started talking Oppy he was even more animated and enthusiastic - he clearly considers it one of his best performances, and we totally agreed. Hubby and I are pretty knowledgeable about the science and Dwight had obviously done a lot of studying himself, so the conversation flowed very easily. We ended up talking the last fifteen minutes away. It was a really nice way to wrap up the day.

:( I've read mixed reviews of meetings with him on Lostpedia. Some were really positive, others a let down. One woman posted a series of photos and video of him signing a lot of autographs for a long time and wearing a smile through it. She said he was great.

Living in Hollywood California, out of the 10 or so celebs I have run into, I have to say by far the Nicest ones were 1) Lance Henriksen 2) Jesse James 3) Rico Ross 4)Jenette Goldstein 5) Mark Rolston.

While working for Auto Zone in 2008 Jesse James was filming his Auto Zone commericials he filmed a small intro at our store for a day where he comes in and is buying a battery. While the film crew was gone in about 1 hour Jesse stayed from 9am to just past Noon, he brought a trailer with a few cars of his including his 30's hot rod with the 426 Hemi in it. He took each employee for a ride up, one at a time as it was a 2 seater. This ride went into speeds of over 110 MPH. He also let us sit on one of his El Diablo's. He also talked to us in major detail about every tattoo on his arms back etc. He then continued talking about he got started in the business of building Choppers, and metal fab. As a final goodbye after posing for pictures and autographs with us all, he ordered 10 Pizza's large pizzas from a local Pizza Hut. No matter what the press says about him and his situation with Kat Von D, I will never lose respect for the guy, he may be a celebrity but he never wanted to be one, and just wanted to build bikes. Just a local Orange County boy making it big, still is very down to earth, or at least he was in early 08 when I met him.

My experience with the rest of the 4 nice celebs takes place at the 25th Anni Screening of Aliens on July 19th at the New Bev Cinema in local So Cali. Mark, Jenette, and Rico were all very talkative and friendly signing multiple pieces and posing for pictures. Although they were great by far the best one of these in my opinion is Lance. As I eat some bad Chinese food about 1/3 of the way through the Aliens screening I got up to use the bathroom I see Lance out there talking with the staff. Lance stops in mid sentence sees me in my MAA BDU's, greets me and says "People like you make my day. 25 years later and I still can not help but smile at seeing how much Joy going to work for a few months made to so many, Thank you, " Not only did this wonderful 70 year old man great me so nicely, he also shook my hand and talked with me for about 5 mins, and after shaking his hand I replied "it is a real honor Mr Henriksen" "He continued with "No the honor is all mine" After walking back into the theater after the movie ended and the Q&A with Michael Biehn, Mark, Rico, Jenette and Lance. I notice this man among all others still sitting on the stage talking with every fan. Being one of the last dozen or so fans to leave, as I wanted to make sure I got pictures and Autographs with all 5, who do I see but Lance still casually sitting on the stage, like he is here hanging out in your living room, not here for a paycheck. This man was the 1st to enter and probably the last to leave.

Stumbled across this researching my newest build and thought I would add my .02 cents.

R. Lee Ermey (Full Metal Jacket) - Met him during my time as an Airborne Instructor. He came down to film one of his shows. Cool dude & is basically the character he portrays.
Anthony Daniels - Was very nice to me at C1. I was the 1st person in line for day one of C1. I got there at like 3am. The place was an unorganized cluster. Me and the first 5 or so people in line decided to grab some barrier chains and arrange them and guide people around. The staff saw what we were doing and Tony came up to thank us and get us some coffee.
Chris Benoit - was very quiet but nice and signed for people post match.
Jeremy Bullock, Daniel Logan, Jake Lloyd - were nice and overly friendly at C5. I even got extra autographs for nothing and in fact never even redeemed my tickets for autographs from Bullock and Logan (being in costume has perks).
Julian Glover (General Veers/Indy 3) - Was very nice and friendly.
Max Brooks (Author, World War Z) - Super nice almost to a fault. He didn't really have a line to see him and would talk for 15 mins or so to everyone. Seemed surprised that fans were digging him.
Adrianne Curry - Overly friendly and flirty. Very hung over at C5 (as she told me while I escorted her around).
George Lucas - Seemed happy but overwhelmed at C5 when I walked him around. Quiet as I expected.
Norman Reedus - Met him at ZombCon in Seattle. Was just milling around like a fan before his Boondock Saints co-star arrived. No one really even noticed him. A few fans asked for pics, which he had no problems posing for. I did the same and he was talking to me about my Mando costume. He sort of understood what it was but asked more about it. Later, as we walked some friends to the front of the con to check them in, we past Norman and Sean Patrick in the hall by themselves and got some "Hey guys how's it going?" and stuff from them as though we were buds. Cool laid back guys.

I have met numerous other minor celebs, but just wanted to chime in on these and the couple of personal stories.

Bruce Campbell

Ran into him late night at an nearly empty bar in the Gaslamp during SDCC a few years back, and asked him for his autograph for a friend of mine (Cenobyte) who couldn't make it to the con and had asked me to get it if I ran into him. All we had handy was a bar napkin. I told him to make it out to "Brandon" as it was for a friend of mine. He did, but was not very nice about it.

Bruce was very impatient as I asked the bartender for a pen, which took all of 20 seconds. But he barked at me, "You mean you're asking me for my autograph and you don't even have a pen?!". I was taken aback by his rudeness, but politely said, "I'm sorry, but I had no idea I'd run into here in this bar. But the bartender just motioned he has a pen, it'll only be a moment.". He rolled his eyes and shook his head.

I was wearing my Chewie costume this whole time, but had my mask in hand. After Bruce signed the napkin, a couple of cocktail waitresses asked if they could get their picture taken with me as Chewie and Bruce. Bruce told the girls "yes", so I put my mask on the bar, pulled up my balaclava, and as I was tucking my hair (which was long) inside the balaclava, Bruce looked at me and snapped, "Hey, if you want your picture with me, you're gonna have to hurry it up!".

Again, I was as polite as can be, and calmly said, "Oh, I'm sorry, it takes me half a minute to put the mask on. I'll hurry.". He sighed with complete annoyance. Of course, what I WANTED to say to him was, "Hey, prima donna, I have ZERO interest in getting my photo with you. I'm doing this for the girls. So get over yourself.". Oh, how I would've loved to have said that. And honestly, had he said one more rude remark, I would've. But we took the photo, and went our separate ways.

Don't get me wrong, I liked him in Army of Darkness, but I'm not an autograph collector, and didn't give a rat's ass about getting my photo with him.

What a jackwagon! lol My Han Solo buddy Jimmy was with me and he and I still laugh at Bruce's arrogance once in a while if we're reminded of it. :lol

You have to kind of wonder how he would've reacted if you'd mouthed off to him. Part of me thinks that folks like that actually would, in a weird way, appreciate it.

Yeah, I definitely would've said, in a level tone, "they're the ones who want the picture."

@ Solo4114 and Treadwell: I got the sense he was a big whiny baby, so full of himself, that he would not have appreciated being put in his place, and he would've stormed off in a huff. And that is why I didn't even say anything, even in a level tone, that the photo is for the girls and not me--because he seemed so on edge that he would've walked out. For the sake of the girls, who were extremely excited about getting the photo, I indulged Bruce's arrogance one last time, and we got the photo.

I will also tell you guys that the thought occurred to me that if I had said *anything* to him that he'd interpret as ungracious, I could very easily see him snatching up the bar napkin with his autograph and ripping it up or walking out with it. (I hadn't yet put it in my bandolier pouch--I placed it on the bar between me and him so my hands would be free to put my mask on.) And I didn't want to let Cenobyte down: "Brandon, I had it, but then Bruce ripped it up and stormed out.". :lol If you know Brandon, and I know many of you do, he probably would've gotten a kick out of it. But I didn't want to speculate on that, so I went with the only thing I knew for a fact, which was he wanted Bruce's autograph badly enough to ask me to get it for him. So I did, even if I had to swallow my own pride in the process. :cool

I have a Bruce Campbell story too, also negative. He's a jerk and pretty arrogant. (This is actually my friend's story... I wasn't present at the time.)

NYCC 2010. Some background: my friend P is an ex-prison security guard that got injured on duty, to the point where he needed to retire early and now is on a ton of pain medication daily and walks with a cane. He's a bit out of shape now but still is not someone you'd ever want to fight; he has that "presence" and owns the air around him in the way that law enforcement types tend to.

Anyway, he's walking through the aisles at NYCC. 2010's event was CROWDED and everyone moved at a snail's pace because it was so packed. So Bruce and his bodyguards/assistants/whomever come up behind him and are clearly in a hurry. And P is in his way. Bruce says, loudly, "Can someone get this fat cripple out of my way?"

My friend turned around and punched him.

Let's stick to stories we actually experienced ourselves, because this one is pure hearsay, and also sounds like pure BS. At the very least, embellished.

And don't try to defend the veracity of the story, because you weren't there, dude.

As I mentioned before, I had only ever seen Adam West in person ; He was so cool but I was totally starstruck; I just don't live in an area where you see too many famous people.
But last night I had a dream that I was on a plane, and noticed Timothy Dalton was sitting across from me. Spent the entire flight working up the courage to say hi; and when I did it was gibberish. WTF did that dream mean???

* And BTW the 'turning around and punching Bruce Campbell' story is complete BS

First off, I completely understand wanting to keep this thread to first-hand experiences--sorry about that. I'll only post first-hand stuff from now on. It's a slippery slope from "a friend" to "a friend of a friend" and that's how rumors start. However I feel like I need to defend myself and/or P here. No, I wasn't there. But I've known P for years and he's been involved behind the scenes at many conventions up and down the east coast for ten+ years.

I was supposed to attend the con with him on Sunday and backed out last minute; Sunday night he tells me this happened to him. I just chalked it up to crazy things happening around him, as they often do. So no, I can't personally attest to having seen this, but nor can I figure out any reason why he would have lied about this to me.
