Carbon-Freeze Vader Saber...an MPP. The Definitive ESB

Thanks for being nice, it does make me feel better. I'm not saying it's not an MPP, it could be- I don't know I was not there. Looking at the actual storybook, not a scanned computer photo, and looking at my King Sol, I just can't help but see the button. I have 1 King Sol, 3 Heilands, and one Larbel MPP. As long as I make a quality saber, I feel good about the project. My King Sol is not finished yet, but I still plan to finish it and display it with pride. Who knows, we might find another King Sol pic from ESB down the road somewhere..........

As long as your happy with the saber, that's what counts. This is a hobby and it's suposed to be fun!

Oh here's just one other thing to think about in regards to the CF saber, I'll let you make your own judgments (sorry to rehash this AGAIN). If it was a King Sol why would they put the button on the side? It would have made more sence to put it in the slot on the shroud where the MPP button would go. If I'm not mistaken the shroud dosen't go down all the way on a King Sol if the button is to the side. Originaly it was thought the MPP shroud didn't have an inner lip to stop the shroud, but as Larry's replica illustrates there is one. If you were making the prop from scratch wouldn't you put the button where it was on the MPP version? Also the shroud is too close to the little screw seen in the pic for it to be the screw on a King Sol.

Doesn't mean a King Sol Vader wouldn't be great, just an observation

OK I got that out of my system

I've put in a request to have this thread Achived before something else hapens and it turns into a flame war and the great info here is lost in the static.

Hey James,

Sorry if I sounded offensive to you too - I spoke in the spirit of honest debate/discussion, and did not mean to demean or insult you in any way.

It doesn't bother me that we don't agree, but I'm honestly curious why you believe it is a King Sol. Is it purely because of that "button"? I actually know of other flashes (eg, the Life Synchronizer) which also has a similar button.

Also, I'm curious how you would explain the following:

1) the shroud not going all the way down to the screw;

2) the apparent absence of the button plate;

3) the ports looking more oval than square

4) the apparent rivet hole which corresponds to the MPP's

5) the use of a MPP shroud and clamp - if they had an MPP shroud and clamp, what happened to the MPP itself? Why discard the flash and take the shroud/clamp to put on a KS?

6) the absence of the horizontal port - though this is not conclusive cos *some* King Sols (perhaps yours) don't have it either (albeit most KS's do have it).

Anyway, all in genuine discussion.

I clicked on this thread thinking some new 2012 esb saber discoveries has been made!

and I did wonder if James Kenobi 1138 ever come to a conclusion if its indeed an MPP...
