Captain Jack's Vortex Manipulator

I couldn't resist buying one of these the other day to check out the quality.....I have to say that I'm actually quite impressed with it. Yes, it is slightly undersized and obviously not made with real leather but for the price, you simply can't knock it. It does look pretty good when put on the wrist. I bought it with the intention of taking the electronic 'guts' out and placing them into the leather version I have been working on but I may just leave this for a while....so, if any of you are tempted with one of these.....they are great for the price!!! :)

Anyway, here's a couple of photos and also photos of the leather version I've been working on. Unfortunately this was the darkest leather I could get at the time and the measurements are slightly off (little bit too big).....but you get the idea.

Cheers,

Chris

p.s sorry for the size of the photos - tried reducing them but with no luck

yeah, it's the toy version that's just been released here in the UK. It does come with a small sonic screwdriver (more a child size version and doesn't expand...purley lights up and nothing else)

The electronics are simple on the manipulator, basically just the two blue leds which light up via the far right button. Again no noise with this, but still no complaints from me......for the price of it, it's worth getting in my eyes :)

That's cool. I've been seriously looking forward to the new wave of Who items and the reviews all seem pretty good. The mini-Sonic appears to be similar to the led torch that came out a few years ago. Wish I hadn't bought it now!
These need to hit the US ASAP!

yeah, I've been impressed too. It seems like an eternity waiting for an official vortex manipulator to be released.....hopefully you won't have to wait too long until it comes out in the US.

I'm sold. I usually don't get toys becuse they look like, well, toys. I must say though that the Who stuff is very well detailed for what they make. Almost like someone had the idea of making affordable prop replicas! :lol

I found it way too small for my wrist. Hope you guys are skinny :lol

lucky I have skinny wrists! lol On my wrist I use the second or third last hole on the strap so it fits me okay but yeah best be warned about the size. I still think it's worth it though for the inside though.....

Yeh, it's a shame there's no noise with it......

I still may take the electronics out and put into a leather strap as was my original intentions but will wait a while as I'm having too much fun wearing this!! :)

Oh I saw River's Sonic yesterday in my local Tesco, not sure about it though......paint scheme wasn't that great but still may add it to my collection. If I get one, I'll do a review on here......

Rivers screwdriver is great. The tip is clear though, rather than coloured and it would seem that the use a dual coloured LED. It's good though. Slim as well.

ah, apologies....I completely missed that thread. Actually, now I'm really tempted for the River sonic :) Seeing it out of the package definetely idoes make a difference (great photos, thanks). I guess I kinda had got used to the clean look of the Doctor's Sonic, so wasn't initially sure of this oxidised paint scheme.

Thanks for the link, and a great review.....might pop off to tescos now :)

Thanks also for the heads up on the journal....:)

Pirates of the Caribbean 36 - Quest For The Lost Portal Of Time Travel:lol

If they are available only in the UK is there a link in which we "colonials" can purchase them from across the pond? :confused
