Captain Jack Sparrow's Shrunken Head

Made from Celluclay which is basically fine powdered paper machee(sp?). Just add water and you get a nice dough consistency material that is easily molded. Speaking of molded alot of mold started growing on the inside of my head because of the moisture. It has taken along time for this thing to dry out. Tips given to me were to put it into an oven at 100 degrees to completely dry it out.

The shrunken head saga continues...........

After two weeks of air drying and numerous trips to the oven at around 100 degrees the Celluclay head finally is dry. It has gone through a major paint job with acrylic paint. I used a black and white (gray) mixture as a base coat, added blending medium and black with a sponge to get the splotched look, and finally blended in some tan color. The final product was sealed with a matte acrylic sealer both inside and out. The inside was not painted.

Final stage with jute cord. I will be adding some fancy jute cord adornments to the mouth area. I have some bone beads, wooden beads, and perhaps some feathers. We shall see.

Blonde hair concept. Need to use a salt and pepper gray instead.

Not bad at all. Got a picture of the original? I knew he had a shrunken head, but I have never seen a close-up of it - just a vague grayish tuft of hair hanging off his belt.

You're thinking of the monkey paw, I think.

I don't think so. I already knew about the monkey's paw - it hangs from the belt, right next to the fertility charm/bone thing, near the right side of his body. The gray tuft I'm talking about was on the other side.

Actually, I think the only place I've ever seen it was on Toby's costume...perhaps the "gray tuft" was just something in my mind's eye once I knew it was supposed to be there:

Re: Captain Jack Sparrow's Shrunken Head

WOW! Blast from the past! Yes I have been aware of them for about two years now and every Jack is buying from them. Unforunately their heads look nothing like the movie prop!

Here is my most recent updated version as of about 1 year ago plus a screengrab of the actual prop!!
