I wanted to share one small side project, I'm helping captFuture with.
As his user name suggests he's a huge fan of Cpt. Future :D and is currently working on a costume.

I've so far helped in modelling the gun, as well as most of the accessories for the suit.

My reference for the gun was by the way this image.

captFuture 3d printed most parts already and is preparing the prints currently.

I think he'll maybe post some of his progress here.

And here's just a video of the 3d modelling process, for anyone interested ;)

Thanks a million for your modeling phil83er.
The build is going on - prints are finished (printed on my prusa mk3) glued together, fillered.

Next step - foam build of the breastplate and sewing the overall.

Photos are coming soon...

:) Chris

What I did so far:

- After getting the first 3d files from phil83er i cut them into printable pieces and printed it in PLA on my Prusa i3 MK3
- I used superglue to put the pieces back together and sanded the edges
- 4 Layers of filler and sanding after being dry and then 2 coats of white followed by a clear coat.
- in between i took an old Belt of mine and modified the buckle mechanism in order to glue the "F" logo onto it

Many hours of thinking in between how to go on ;)

- The blasters got neodyme magnets as well as the holsters to be able to snap them on magnetically.
- I bought some white boots on amazon, removed the buckles and printed the cut out round pieces from the blasters as decoration

A special construction of my upper body helped me to get the chest piece right for building it in EVA foam.
(here is a possible improvement for the future... EVA foam is nice, but all that coating and modifying is not what i want, because the whole piece looks less good than i expected)

To make it easier to show off pictures I created a google photos album where i constantly add pictures.

After a desastrous crafting sunday, where nothing went right phil83er saved my life again and modelled the shoulderpieces for me because my eva-foam / worbla stuff with faux leather on it just destroyed itself because this damn sprayglue did not stick.

I am printing the pieces now.

Effin´ AWESOME! With a capital "F"!!!

So what´s next, Simon Wright? Yiek and Oak? A lifesiz Grag head? And where´s your Joan?!

Wow this looks so good, i would like to build one for my self for next Halloween.
What type of fabric do you use
Where do you publish these files

that´s awesome...what software are you using to model ?

I use 3ds max for modelling, since I'm working in the 3d animation industry.
It worked quite fine for most of the props I design, including the parts I made for this cosplay. :)

captFuture will have to tell you about the fabric.

About the files thoug, here's the link to the accessory parts :)

Please note, that you'll probably have to adjust the size to your body size, as I designed it to basically fit me.
captFuture had to scale some parts down, as far as I know.

Anyway, hope you can use the parts :)

The work on the foam is very clean and is almost perfect (just the collar is missing) and was wondering if the wide stripe on the abs section could have been a darker shade of brown. What do you say?
