Just starting out - so apologies for lapses in protocol. inspired by Steamshovel and also by a guy we met at SDCC who had an amazing Cap America shield.

Starting to create a uniform for my son. I am also creating a "black widow" outfit for myself.

Straps from an old backpack. Buckles from my horses old blanket.
spray painted the webbing the right colors. Planning to pad out with EVA foam on the underside.
shirt and pants and belt purchased from Army/Navy.
no helmet planned at this time as son does not want to "squash hair".
Need to up my game a bit but its a start. We figure we will do a test run for halloween and then polish for SDCC.

Adding some more pictures to this thread. This is the more completed version of the upper costume (the lower is just blue pants and boots. )
Shirt underneath.
Padded out the "shoulder armour"
Added some "craft foam" armour to the shirt pieces.

the padding on the underside of the shoulders. Not pretty, but it does the job.

photo 4 (1).JPGThe craft foam on the underside of the white section - to give it that "armoured" look. I am going to add stitching later.

May i just add that i should have sewn on the padding on the white section first....before creating the shirt. Would have been easier. I ended up partially dissassembling the shirt pieces so i could access. Still difficult. Also spent time curseing sewing machine for tension and bobbin thread mishaps. Its tough when you are sewing two disimilar materials, one thin and stretchy, one thicker and stable....
