"Captain America, how exciting!" TWS TFA Rescue USO and Ultimates WW2

Re: "Captain America, how exciting!" TWS concept and TFA

I don't know if this is a well deserved break since the shoulders are not done but it is a needed break since the shoulders are not done.
Sadly, don't have time to spare... since the suspense date has shifted forward to the 8th.
Loss of a week. So I think the leather work for the helmet will fall by the wayside.

Thankfully, the sun came out, just before setting, and was able to primer the back parts and chest star but the weather is forecast rain starting tonight and for the rest of the week. At least the parts are white if I can't get them silver.

The abs are done.

If you can't get out to spray paint, try some silver Rub 'n' buff

Re: "Captain America, how exciting!" TWS concept and TFA

Rub and Buff, I'd have to order it and quickly but I am worried about this bit,
"Conforms to ASTM D-4236. Not for use by children or in healthcare facilities"

For the chemists amongst us, is Rub and Buff still a healthcare facility issue after it has dried.

Also, can I seal Rub and Buff with future acrylic floor polish?

I have successfully sealed silver Rub n Buff with Future. Resulted in only a minor loss of luster. You can also use liquid deglosser to thin the R&B and paint it on with a brush to give a more even coat. Just apply several thin coats and buff the hell out of it til you can start to see your reflection.

No Hobby Lobby or similar store near you? That is where I get my RnB

Re: "Captain America, how exciting!" TWS concept and TFA

Certainly not near, Hobby Lobby, Michael's and Target are a day trip.

Closest thing is an Ace Hardware and an Auto Zone... an hour away.

And the Ace is poorly stocked. I had to order the aluminum bar for the shield I made.

One chicago screw away from a completed shoulder.
The single 'rivet' on the red strap will be added once the suspenders have been completely assembled so I have to wait for the back star and belt attachment.

Fly, that looks really really ridiculously good looking.

Re: "Captain America, how exciting!" TWS concept and TFA

Wow man. Every time I check in on this thread your progress is more and more amazing. Well done sir.

Re: "Captain America, how exciting!" TWS concept and TFA

Thanks for the words of praise. My hands and even eyes hurt.

On the how to... the rivets are Tandy 1/4 inch nickle chicago screws. To emulate the bluing effect. They were colored with a permanent marker and then coated with future.
I should have preferred to have used the hot oil technique to actually blue the metal but I didn't have a torch to heat the screws.

The front D rings are bent with a leatherman from a coat hanger... the greenish yellow ones you get from the cleaners on post.

The bottom D rings holding the leather straps are 4mm "Binders". All I could get was purple??? So they were painted silver.

The Rub and Buff arrived. I was able to finish the silver parts. The tarnish and dark pits are oil based pastels.

The lighting is too dark so the star looks pewter and the blue of the suit is way off. Sorry. The important thing is the velcro holds and everything lines up.

Tomorrow, the hole in the lower bracket needs to drilled, mounted to the belt and then I can finish the LBE.

The leather was delivered but it is the wrong color... so no cuff and buckle on the gloves and the already cast aside leather for the helmet is now not even a consideration.

Incredible job! Really looks fantastic :thumbsup

Re: "Captain America, how exciting!" TWS concept and TFA

The LBE is done. I don't know it I want the red straps to attach to the ammo pouches (real world) or tuck them into the pants with some velcro and elastic.

The 'brass' trips on the straps are 1" nickle tabs joined with JB weld to make them 2" and then painted with Krylon Gold metallic. All I could find for real brass tips were 1 1/2 to 1 1/3"

Looking at all the patterns that had to be made.

I feel safe saying that this is manufactured not just modified.

How much Captain America is too much Captain America?

Trick Question. You can never have too much Captain America.

Now, I have to make dinner.

nothing rong with that :) looks like all you need is avengers cap and then u done :D

Re: "Captain America, how exciting!" TWS concept and TFA

While the Avengers Cap wasn't the worst in the history of the franchise, think I'll pass. The Avengers uniforn was still better than the plexiglass clear shield and a motorcycle helmet.

Besides, there is lots of tightening up with elastic and velcro before this suit is usable. I can't run and certainly can't jump.

Eventually, I will have the proper pistol belt rig and the boot cuff.

The cost of the suit, minus the helmet and jump boots, was a total of $560.47 ($445.84 in materials, $114.63 shipping)

I don't know if this work out to be cheaper than modifying a cosplay suit and considering the labor, some would consider, this starts to be in the UD Replica or Magnolia suit range.

Just glad I was able to get this close to done to surprise the wife.
