Captain America Help with fabric

I am trying to figure out what material they used for Chris Evans costume in the 2011 movie. It looks like the material that lots of heavy duty work uniforms are made from, but I am not sure what it is called and further still how to find it by the yard to make the soft parts of the costume. Any help on the research would be appreciated.
