Hello, all!
This weekend I was finally able to debut my newest cosplay that I've been dying to do for the past 5 years! It's loosely based off of a version of Captain America from the 2015 Secret Wars series...
I started with the shield roughly 4 years ago, and it was sitting in a closet until about three months ago. The core is made of multiple metal wreath frames with EVA foam sewn onto the outside, then covered with woodgrain duct tape.
I then covered the outside with leather scraps, and painted it as barbaric as possible without looking too "bad".
The helmet was a basic Roman helmet from Amazon, nothing fancy but it's definitely durable and worked well being painted.
The body (bless my wife) was sewn from a lizard-y fabric, then spraypainted.
The shin guards are EVA foam with faux leather sewn on. It's a bit hard to see, but over the kilt (skirt...?) is a scale textured fabric from JoAnn's (much easier to deal with than actual chainmail).
Overall, I'm pretty proud of how it turned out. It's not quite as durable as I hoped, I've got some minor repairs to do. But all in all, I'm happy with it!
BONUS: My goofy kitty wanted to help while my wife was cutting out the fabric ^_^
