Can you identify this type of hat?

I'm looking for this type/style of hat for a display (the one the little girl is wearing obviously) but have no idea if the particular design has a name or was used for anything in particular. Basically, I need to be able to search for it online or elsewhere but have no idea what to call it other than "vintage hat" and that's not terribly helpful in locating it.

It looks to me to be something a service industry would have used (milkman, police or maybe a chauffeur?) and would probably have been worn from around the 1930's to at least the mid-to-late 1940's by my estimation. Anybody know anything about these things or what it might be called?

I think that's generically just called a "visor cap". You might send the pic to Amazon Drygoods and they could probably narrow it down more for you. It looks a lot like their railroad conductor hat and you might be able to get them to run you one in tan. :)

Good luck.

Looks a lot like the hat that's part of the New York Fire Department's Captain's dress uniform.
