Can anyone make me a 3D model - Vera flash hider?

As some of you may know, I recently picked up a sceen-used Showtime gun, used as a base for Vera from Firefly.

I have most of the add-on parts covered, but the flash-hider is beyond my skills. Having spent the last couple of days trying to get my head around the easy end of the 3D modelling scale - Google Sketchup - I've come to the conclusion that I really need to get someone skilled at this onboard!

The idea is to produce a 3D model that can be output to a 3-D printer in STL or similar format. I will then cast the piece in resin.

I can provide pics. measurements & 2d Illlustrator drawings + payment within reason (the 3d print is going to cost an arm & a leg :unsure)

If you think you can help, drop me a PM or post here. Thanks in advance!

Wouldn't be that hard too do, are you
talking about getting it grown in the UK ?

Anywho, PM sent..

Shoot me the measurement info via PM and I'll see what I can do for you using Alibre Design. Google Sketch-up I think was developed or co-developed with Google by Alibre.

If it's the 'holes' that are giving you problems. It looks like they just moved the tube into the mill cutter on the side just enough to pierce the tubing wall. Basically you you need to figure the radius of that cut, then make offset holes so it just skims the side of the tube wall. I'm assuming it's an even # of rows, so it its # rows/2 to get the # of planes and [ 360 / (# rows/2) ] = to get the degree angle between planes.

just a quick example, obviously scale, etc is off but you get the idea

Actually since your in the UK, you might want to shoot Russrep a PM and see if he can spit you out one in aluminum. My guess he'll have scrap around that will work & price wise it might come out the same with less work since a machined piece wont need to be cleaned up like a printed prototype.

Thanks Cheech, I'll PM you some dimensions tomorrow. I think you've got the gist of it there, unfortunateley my brain just goes to mush involving anything connected with math and geometry

I'm very good with Sketchup and have used it to produce 3D parts in STL format in the past. PM me the details if you still want a hand with this.

Maybe joatrash can hook you up. IIRC, he built his Vera replica piece by piece using some 3D files.
