Camtono case replica

The one in the Mandalorian is an original prop, not a modified Ice cream maker. Unless someone working on the show can tell us, we don't know that it is the exact same dimensions as the Hamilton machine.

Okay sorry, I was confused by this post. The way I read it I thought you meant unless we have confirmation from someone on the show. As in we don't have confirmation it was scratch. You of course were referring to the measurements.

I seem to be having lots of brain problems lately.

Can someone please post if these come back in? I am going to try and check everyday, but I am doing that with RS as well and sometimes I forget.

I was lucky to have picked one up on shopdisney this morning. Will make a cool addition to the collection. Disney‘s credits look pretty good and would look good with this.

If you’re on FB, updates are much more frequent on current stock in the park and online than here. Check out “Galaxy Edge Trading Post” for example.

It’s a shame Disney can’t do international delivery to the uk at the moment due to recent changes in charges/tax.

I looked on Disney.eu and co.uk but they are not even listed there and I’m not dealing with evilbay scalpers.

Just gotta hope Disney pull thier finger out and sort out thier shipping issues before they come back in stock.

The original prop in Empire Strikes Back is not a Hamilton Beach. It was identified here:

I own a Hamilton Beach. Certainly the next best thing if you can't get an original. Plus it has the added benefit of already coming in white.

I'm currently using mine as my room's trashcan.

Also pretty sure some sharp eyed viewers here know, but Luke also had a Camtono in the cargo compartment of his X-Wing on Dagobah in ESB.
That's right - a black one! It's also visible during the earlier training scene. The body of it looks a good deal taller than the version in The Mandalorian.

Mine arrived today. I have the sudden urge to put on my x-wing pilot jumpsuit, grab my camtono, and run through the hallway.

Got mine today.

I noticed the weathering on all three doors is completely identical. Looks like they used a stencil to add the gray paint chips.

One thing I'm not a fan of is that closing it requires slamming the doors shut.

In person it is a decent size. I do think its a little undersized, most notable because you can't fit your hand to grip the handle. I have to grab it by my fingertips.

This is otherwise a really nice replica, especially considering it is a $45 toy.

It hasn't shipped at all? Mine was shipped with UPS Surepost, so they normally hand it off to USPS for final delivery. I got an email this morning that UPS would be completing the delivery instead of the post office, even though the post office was expecting the package and I have both tracking numbers.

I got a USPS tracking saying it was shipped on the 4th but the status has said USPS awaiting item ever since. "Pre-shipment info sent to USPS". Hasnt changed once since getting the notice.

Wonderful…anyone got an extra? Disney cancelled my order i placed right when they went live.

“I’m sorry you haven’t received your delivery, Jason!

Regrettably, since there has been no recent tracking movement, this order is considered lost. I apologize for the inconvenience!

Replacements are currently unavailable. I have issued a refund of $47.46 for the Camtono Safe – Star Wars (461032924878) and $6.95 for shipping. You should receive these refunds in 3-5 business days!”

According to the tracking the package never even left their warehouse… but now it’s lost? Wtf.

A friend of mine has a 4 gallon ice cream maker, and the Disney camtono fits perfectly inside it, so it's definitely undersized compared to the real thing.

But I suspect they may have started with a 3D model of an actual ice cream maker and scaled it down for cost and practicality reasons because they are so damn close in shape.

Still, I think the electronics in this thing alone are worth the $50!

Personally I don't think there ever was an Ice Cream Maker.

The original was, but I think the one in The Mandalorian was a pure scratch built prop, merely using the original as inspiration. Then the toy version was based on that. (and size not withstanding, how accurate the toy is I don't know)

Agreed. After all, there is no reason to believe that every camtono in the SWU is made by the same manufacture, made to the same size and detail. While yes, the prop builders were making an attempt to connect the prop to the item seen in The Empire Strikes Back, there is no reason they have to build the item to the same specific size and details of the item (ice cream maker) used in The Empire Strikes Back. They merely have to make a visual connection.

As far as the Disney item goes. I would believe that they item was made using references to the Madalorian prop. With that being said, the item is simply being marketed as a camtono/safe and not as an The Client's camtono, therefore we can relax a little on the size. After all, think of a firebox that you might buy for keep personal items safe, there are various styles and sizes to purchase based on your needs.

Anyone have any ideas on how to slow down the doors when they open? Like a spring damper or something?

Sean
