I started on the hands last night. I'm thinking of doing the gloves and guards all one piece latex.
I just noticed this last night; The sneaky Duro wears knuckles. Here's a shot
I'm going to try to save my sculpt so I can easily reverse for the leaft hand, and be able to duplicate shape and size.
The clay is Roma Plastilina. So far it is my favorite.
Very cool. Can you keep posting pictures of the casting process with those hands?
Also, I noticed you're doing the sculpt in the kitchen... is that because you soften the clay in the oven? I've often thought about doing that, but never have out of fear of burning it... Any tips?

Clay needs to be worked in small parts at a time. I use No.2 hardness, so it doesn't take long. I constantly knead a golf ball size of clay in my hand while I'm working. I add small pinches at a time to my sculpt until it's built up.
It will melt if if you put it on the stove in a pot; I do this to mix clay remnants. You can also pour melted clay into latex or silicon molds for a quick recast.
Thank you for your interest. I will post pictures of the casting process.
I usually do the kneading a small amount in my hand while working, but I never thought of melting the remnants together, or even using a hairdryer.
Thank you kindly for the advice!
They look great! I always wanted to do the hands but I just don't have the molding skills right now. if you need help on the gauntlets I have some sculpts that I might need to brush the dust off and get working on again.
The sculpt and cast turned out nicely, but the finished latex product was not to my liking at all.
It looked good, but a rubber glove is just a rubber glove:/ It didn't bend right, and the sweaty hands just wont do at all.
I decided to go with latex fingers and leather gloves.
I still need to install the brass knuckles, but the gloves are fine. The fingers are stuffed with closed cell foam. I'm able to pick things up with them. The fingers feel firm and lifelike.
Great work! It looks better and better with each revision. I can't wait to see the hands in person, as the mask was even more impressive seeing first hand.
