Greetings all.

I am starting a Buzz Lightyear foam costume and I am wondering how I am make the phony buttons on the chest. I want them to actually be able to be pushed in but I have no idea how do to this or exactly what to search for:confused.

Please help me out fellow cosplayers!

Any advice is much appreciated.

Why not use those push lights that you can purchase from walmart or amazon? Simply paint them and warp
plastic so it looks concave?

lightyear buttons.jpgHow about this? Make the buttons(vacuu-form, papier maché, fimo, fiberglass resin, etc) with an edge around, so a cross-section looks like a hat. Then, cut a hole in the main body of the costume the size of the button, NOT the edge. Then put something spongy behind the button so it has something to push back against. See attached bad drawing. Am I explaining myself?

Thanks for the suggestion! Perhaps I can get these buttons going once I am able to finish the costume.
