I'm liking this, great work so far...looking forward to seeing your progress.

Cannibalized my old Starcraft Spectre costume. Tore off a bunch of the extra pieces to drop the weight down, then added more foam to fill it out a bit.

The pieces assembled together. I started adding more foam, it's lightweight, I may go buy a couple more packs of it tomorrow.

Thats the last pic of the night. didn't have a ton of time to work on it tonight on account of my kickball double-header (lost both games, boo!).

Tomorrow night I hope to finish the chest piece. At least as much as I can until the plastic domes come in.

This is looking great. Nice one for going for the "Real World" variation by the way. It's always good to see what take on the theme people come up with. Can't wait to see this finished = )

Chest piece sanded and primed. It looks far smoother here than it does IRL. There is still a ton of touchup work to be done and several more parts needed to be added. But it's at the point where a fast coat of paint and it's 'good enough' for now. If only I had my domes!!! my DOMES!!! Because it needs another 4-5 pounds on it.

I knew being a packrat and keeping my old shoes around would come in handy. I hot glued this to the foam and it seems to be holding well. I'm still bringing duct tape for repairs.

I didn't want to use so much foam, as it just doesn't look as good as plastic. But it's faster and more forgiving to work with. Plus it's easier to walk in something with a bit of flex. This last picture shows my biggest problem at the moment. Once again I'm having a hard time fitting the lower leg parts to the shoes and my lower leg and still have it be flexible. I want to be able to walk comfortably in these. Without the shins it's easy to walk in, but with them on it's quite hard. For now my idea is to have a small piece of foam holding them together.. But I'm just scared that it wont be strong enough to last a whole day of walking around.

Chest and Legs with a layer of paint. Doing a second layer tomorrow.

The gloves, it is a pain to find cheap white gloves in mens sizes. I went with a pair of golf gloves. I wish I could find white motorcycle gauntlets under 40 dollars, but good luck finding those. (I'm sure someone here knows exactly where to get them).

Thigh Armor. Added some detail, but I think it doesn't really match the rest of the armor at all. Perhaps after it is painted it will match more.

Five days left. I think I might actually finish it. But now the hardest part really, getting it all to stay on me.

Re: Buzz Lightyear by Hamsterstyle, a WIP

I've never seen anyone do Buzz before, and you're knocking this out of the park! Amazing!

Re: Buzz Lightyear by Hamsterstyle, a WIP

This is really awesome! I can't wait to see the finished product!

Re: Buzz Lightyear by Hamsterstyle, a WIP

Are you going to make the Buzz soundboard like in the movie, by pressing the button?

Probably not, but the arm laser lights up with the press of a button. It used to be attached to a speaker that would play a generic laser blaster sound, but I accidently broke the speaker. I may go buy another 5 dollar laser toy and redo it. (I find stealing lights from toys easier than wiring them myself)

I actually don't know what to do with the right hand 'buttons' on buzz's chest armor. I thought about turning them into medals. But I'm still brainstorming this.

Re: Buzz Lightyear by Hamsterstyle, a WIP

Hmmm, in the movie buzz tries to use some of the buttons to call starcommand, so you might want to just turn the buttons into a better com system thing.

Everything is looking fantastic, and I think the gloves are perfect.

Laser Power!

Still Need Domes, Balaclava

Need to make Stencils for all the decals, piece together the chest piece parts, build the dome mechanism, finish painting, and get all the pieces to strap together and not fall off.

For a second there I actually thought I wouldn't be rushed these next 3 days.

Also had a bit of a snafu, the painters tape that I used on the foam boots ripped off the paint after I did some masking... Moving on to just using paper for that part...

Re: Buzz Lightyear by Hamsterstyle, a WIP

Looking good. Where will you be getting the dome? As far as the balaclava, if you can't find/make one in timee, look for a $15 buzz lightyear costume, they come with them.
