Finished: Here' a gif in action



Hi, I'm Burt from Project Props. I've been working on a Soldier 76 costume.



I 3D printed the mask.



Rustoleum Filler Primer and Bondo Spot putty to fill seams, and smooth it out.



Lots of sanding at this point.



Cut the visor out, get shiny smooth.



After paint.

Installing Visor tomorrow after I get the LEDs in the mail.



How I might do strapping. Clear straps from a pair of goggles.Its very secure and comfortable.

How are others doing their straps? I'm trying to think of other options that will be secure and game accurate.

I've got this red material I found on Amazon, a film gel for reading. Its a bit thinner than I'd like. Then using El Wire for the visor light.

What are you thinking for Soldier 76 rifle. . . nerf gun base or build from scratch. . .I'm thinking of a scratch build, pvc pipe core (i.e. 45degree elbow creates the handle to barrel alignment, 3/4" grey pvc. . .rigid, light) . . .build out with foam and Sintra (that's my M.O. generally)

I'm selling the mask on my Etsy. Both Raw print, and Finished. They are sold out currently, but favorite my shop and you'll see when I list them, I'm working on them as quick as I can!

Yes! And I need to color my hair. I got a haircut, but its still a bit long. Might just do a genderbendy version (I don't show it off, but I'm a lady under there :$)

Great question and something I'm still considering. I was thinking of 3D printing it, but with the orders I have and how big of a gun it is, I just don't quite think its feasible. (I've sliced it for my printer, 26 individual parts! all any where from 4-12 hour prints, yikes!).

I might make it from insulation board so I can have a very light prop for convention use.

For his sidearm, I'm using the Doom 2016 pistol. It was a project I was playing with that I ultimately got bored with. I just painted it black,and wouldn't ya know, great prop for Soldier.

I love Soldier, but I recently got a very cool file for Nevermore/Plague Doctor Reaper thanks to my friend Fabian (if you need 3D modeling done, message him. His work is great, and his prices are very fair!)

I'm thinking of doing Plague Doctor Reaper because its such a neat skin. I'm just waiting for it to cool down outside so I can work on it... living in Florida has its limitations sometimes!

Doom 2016 pistol looks perfect, was wondering what people were going to be using for his sidearm.

Thanks for the contact for 3D modeling but, sorry I should have said I am caveman, your world of 3D modeling/printing frightens and confuses me. . . fiddled with some spare PVC yesterday, 45degree joint works well. I'm pretty sure I'm doing a core of PVC, maybe put a fourway connector in the middle and three way connectors toward either end and make a frame onto which I'll build out with EVA, foam insulation then build out the details with 1/8" Sintra. Though 2" PVC bolted top an bottom might work too (see the pvc below grey frame, that is a long steampunk type gun I'm working on, 1" and 1/2" with wood dowels inserted and then drywall screwed together, and with plenty of Loctite for that chemical bonding element that I cant do without). I'll futz around this weekend and post pics. . .

Grew up in FL and my brother sends me his humidity/heat/rain woes. . .I'm in Arizona, so the only downside during the summer is that mixing hardener and Bondo, you have maybe 30 seconds of application time. . .if that. . . good news, time between application and sanding shrinks too. . .

Hi,

I'm working on a blueprint aswell in illustrator. It may be easier to have an illustrator /vector file instead of an image to scale the damn thing. Took me over 3 hours to find a correct scale, I even made a cardboard mockup to check.

According to the OW Wiki Soldier 76 is 1m85. Using calculations and allot of reference from ingame I measured the pulse rifle on 104 cm. This is a bit to big (after making the cardboard mockup) So I'm making mine at 92 cm. Anyway I'm almost finished with the front view, and I'll create my own thread then, sharing the blueprint aswell.

Laid out the frame with PVC and irrigation fittings. . . Again, my M.O. is PVC core/EVA structure /Sintra details. . .Not pictured I put a 16oz energy drink can in the place where the undermounted can thingy is, looked perfect, so I think wrap the can in craft foam, build out the back and front taper.

Going to work on a few different configurations then mock up the structure, and look at where the LED would live.

I've gone ahead and updated this thread. Its more than just a Soldier 76 costume thread.

I plan to do a full Plague Doctor costume, and my partner at Project Props will be doing the Nevermore version.

There is no time frame, so these may take longer than our normal 30 day builds, plus we have a ton of commissions that are first and foremost before our own wants and needs.



I love love love this mask. Easy print, easy to work on! I took this picture right before I added the last layer of primer, so its currently on my desk waiting a paint job.

This will have the LEDs in the eyes, just like in game!

Thanks so much! It means a lot. Just waiting on my jacket to get here! Hoplite, they had a sale on your beautiful jacket and I'm so bummed I didn't wait to get it (bought a different one through Etsy). Oh well, lesson learned!

Thank you so much for your interest! It means a lot! Unfortunately, those masks are spoken for, but I'm working on getting more listed. I really hate saying no to people, but I don't want to say 'yes' to everyone then end up getting stuck with more commissions than I can handle (not a bad problem to have, right! haha!) I prefer to get these to folks in a reasonable amount of time so you don't have to wait so long
