Yep, like the RCS I was going to install and have decided against, it sounds like a frak-tonne of extra work, time and money that will just keep me from completion. There are so many things I could do to this machine with time and money I don't have.

Perhaps it is something I can install at a later date, after the Viper is finished and as a side-project in the future.

There's nothing wrong with that. I built a TARDIS console for the fiftieth anniversary of Doctor Who. To get it done on time I eliminated some features. Over the years I've been upgrading and improving it.

It's a lot easier to find the energy to upgrade a good prop, than to trudge on forever trying to make it perfect on the first shot. Someone on another forum said "Perfect is the enemy of DONE." I tend to agree.

So far so good mate; that fiberglass is a hell of a job but I know that the result will be impeccable

Fiberglassing is such a big milestone!! How much is left to do after that? Obviously painting, but what else?

13DW, There's still plenty to do after the glass is on. It needs to be sanded and any high points and low points either sanded down, repatched or filled. Then the top-coat goes on, which is a high-build resin. That also needs to be sanded smooth, then paint.

Electronics still need some final fixes and I am waiting on a motherboard that runs the whole thing. It's being built as we speak.

It's just amazing how fast it's come together (doing it by yourself, in your spare time). The sanding, filling, sanding, filling, sanding, filling, repeat is going to be time consuming, but it's going to look awesome! Can't wait to see it come together.

I finished glassing all the underside now, right to the rear. I've now put a new trim and some bulb seal around the cockpit edges and now the canopy slides back and seals on the rubber. Sounds heaps better too. Kinda like closing the door of a Rolls Royce.

Glassing high tonight.

Tell me it wasn't a mongrel job getting my hairy arm in the top intake without getting resin all over it! Port intake done as well.

Unfortunately I've run out of resin

Looks like I won't be able to finish the fibreglassing of the engines, until I can afford more. There's a thousand bucks worth, stretched out as far as I could. I'll get this last bit out, and see how far I get.

Must've been difficult/awkward to put the fiberglass inside those cramped engines I'm sure the final look will be A+ mate

I got all the intakes done inside and out, plus about a metre of the top nacelle and the port nacelle. Now I'm out of resin, saving up for the next batch to finish it. There's still a top coat to go, some body-filler, and sanding with the big orbital, before a final paint.

In the meantime, I thought I'd try to make the RCS ports look a little more technical with some detail in the holes.
