So here’s how I build my Fallout Nuka Cola Caps. This same process can be applied to Quantum and Sunset Sarsaparilla caps as well.

Materials:
- Bottle Caps
- Red Spray Paint
- Super Glue
- Sandpaper
- Metal Files
- Mod Podge (Optional)
- Semi-Gloss Polyurethane or Varnish
- Water
- Black Acrylic Paint
Step One:
First I sand off the original printing on the bottle caps. You do not need to remove all of it. This allows the spray paint to stick to the cap better.
Before:
After:
Step Two:
Now I spray paint the caps red. I use Krylon Cherry Red because I have it from my Iron Man build. Nuka Cola Quantum caps would be blue and Sunset caps would be a sort of brown-orange color.

Step Three:
Then I apply my labels to the caps using super glue. I print these out on normal white paper and the designs can be found all over the internet or at this link http://bit.ly/1fKKnlC

Step Four (Optional):
Now I cover the cap in a layer of Mod Podge. What kind (Gloss or matte) really doesn’t matter because the majority is either sanded off or covered. Why exactly I do this is hard to explain but the basics is that it makes sanding harder. Without it, sanding straight to the metal is too easy. With it, you can get variations in color as opposed to having just red and silver (and later black). You don’t really need to do this but I do it because it is what I’ve always done.
(Sorry its sideways)

After:
Step Five:
Then I weather the cap. I go at it with sandpaper and metal files as well as the occasional flathead screwdriver. I tear the labels, bend the metal and remove paint. I always vary how much I weather some of my caps but none are left “brand new”.

Step Six:
Now I mix up a black wash. I add a little water to a little black acrylic paint, and then cover the caps in it. I let them sit for 1-3 minutes (depending on how weathered I want them) and then wipe off the excess with a rag.

On:
Wiped Off:
Step Seven:
Lastly, I cover the caps in a semi-gloss polyurethane. The kind I am using is meant for hardwood floors but it works fine on the caps. Other things you can use are mod podge, varnish, or nothing. This layer gives a better finish and seals the weathering although it is not completely necessary.

And finally the finished product:

If you would like to buy these from me, I sell them on my Etsy page. I charge $10 for 10 caps and I ship anywhere in the world. Here’s the link.

Also, I made a video on how to make these if you can’t follow the written version above!
Thanks for reading and good luck!
