Building a 1/18 SC like Snowspeeder

Thanks TazMan2000!

Here are pics of the actual state of the Speeder.
It was primed with liquified putty and camouflage gray over it.
Tomorrow I will paste the radiator fins and the remaining parts from the guns, then I'll finish the gunner control panels, here ya go:

If I may ask, why liquified putty as a primer? Thanks.

Wow! Easily my favourite SW craft and a very stunning build. I'd love to be able to do something like this. Who's gonna do the first 1:1...

Hi there!

There are some questions I haven't answered here,
first:
Why liquified putty?
Because spry primers are to thick, and I do not like the primers available in the market here, I've used them before and they do not stick well. Tamiya liquified putty applied with airbrush gives a very thin coat, after all I apply putty to a master pattern this way because I need to get a clear view of any imperfection and it will never be painted. Also Styrene needs to be protected as it starts to attract dust and becomes yellow with time so it is better to protect the master patterns with a thin coat of something. I like to do it with Tamiya putty applied with airbrush.

sqbiedoo asked:
Great details, may I ask where you get those accurate cockpit info?
Well, about that. I tried to imitate as much as I could the life size cockpit.
Most of my info came directly from movie caps of the HD version of the film and a really good picture that can be found on the 356 days with Star Wars book.

And now some pics of the definitive version of the Speeder:

That really is impressive, I was chatting to a colleague of mine the other day and his was recalling his time as a trainee in the art dept on ESB, one of his first jobs was to make the cardboard and foam concept models of the Snowspeeder for production meetings.

I bet he wishes he'd kept those models now, imagine that.

Knight, I thin it with Acetone. It may be found in the thing chics use to remove the nail paint, but you need the pure version of it. It dries really fast. I buy it here in a pharmacy or drugstore.
I do not know the exact name for it in English but there are similar compounds with the name Acetone and some seem to be for cars or they seem to be stronger stuff, so you need to find out which is the one you find in a pharmacy OK?

Hi guys.

At last the Snowspeeder is ready. It took me quite a while, and I've been kind of lost working on it and in other stuff.
Here are some pics of the built and painted model:

Rod, if you said these were pictures of the ILM model, I would believe it. This is incredible and outstanding work.
