Budget Build: Gambit and Rogue in Four Weeks.

Re: COMPLETED: Budget Build: Gambit and Rogue in Four Weeks.

I would LOVE to see Colossus and Shadowcat, especially seeing the amazing work you did with the muscle suits! And my brother and his girlfriend will likely upgrade their Gambit and Rogue costumes a bit, but we plan to add in a Cyclops, Phoenix, Wolverine, and Nightcrawler, and I would like to build another armored Justice League lady - Hawkgirl. It seems that I've really got my work cut out for me this winter... We absolutely need to keep an eye out for one another!

Well your work is absolutely stellar, I'll keep my eyes pealed for the whole team next year. :) We'll see what we come up with too.

We'll keep our eyes peeled for your stellar work, too! My brother already wants to recruit your Colossus and Kitty.

Gratz! I LOVE budget builds. They really bring out creativity. When money is a big factor, it makes you have to squeeze every penny and is inspirational to beginners that dont have a huge workshop to work with. Thanks again for sharing with us!

That would be cool! There are some bigger conventions around the country that I hope to travel to someday, but finding the time seems so difficult.

Thanks, Override! I really like re-imagined characters built under a budget - like you said, they really make you creative. The only problem with a budget is that many of my cheaper works don't physically last as long as something I've put the money into making. I still try to be as frugal as possible, though, even with bigger budgets. I just started on a Cyclops/Jean duo for my cousin and his wife. We're shooting for $150 for the pair, using the same thrifty methods as above!

Re: COMPLETED: Budget Build: Gambit and Rogue in Four Weeks.

Update with the whole team from last May!

Jean and Cyclops were also made from dyed thrift-store finds, a pouch belt from an army surplus, and some EVA foam. Total cost came out to be under $200 for the entire group.

Re: COMPLETED: Budget Build: Gambit and Rogue in Four Weeks.

Yep! Though some of the materials were a little shoddy, so I suppose I got what I paid for. I plan on redoing Gambit's foam portions in the future.
