Budget blaster sound board?

I've been working on a PVC E-11 build. I want to cheaply add sound effects to it. I'm not looking for anything fancy like a blaster core. I saw in the junkyard somebody is selling something like a 10 effect cards for about $60. But 1 or 2 sound effects would be fine for me. Would I be better off buying a cheap blaster toy and pulling the board out of that? Is it even possible to load an E-11 sound onto another factory board? I looked at the radioshack recording module which is pretty cheap, but the play button both starts and stops playback, so pressing the trigger twice would stop the sound. Anybody have a recommendation?

Hasbro guts should be pretty easy to fit in a pvc blaster's main tube as it's slightly larger than a regular Sterling receiver inner diameter. If your still building the handle it'll be simple to transfer over the Hasbro trigger and contacts too if you want. Only thing you'll probably need to buy is a plastic battery holder from Radio Shack.

I second that. Scavenging the Hasbro electronics is the cheapest option. If you look, you may even be able to find on at a thrift shop for a few bucks (I've found a few blasters in my day).

Thanks for the replies. I found the Boba Fett blaster at walmart for $17 so I think I'll give that a try. I'll keep an eye out in the thrift stores though, that's a good idea.

Go out and get a Han solo costume blaster it costs about 15 bucks. I got on off ebay because the picture was a ESB blaster. But I kept it for the sound FX board. I'm going to install it in my vintage ANH blaster.
