Re: BTTF Skates project - WIP

"Pit Bull" and "No Tech" are finished. Far from perfect but here they are

As to your question Emma, I took a wild guess and did my skate with aprox. 26 in / 66 cm X 7 in / 18cm

Re: BTTF Skates project - WIP

Do we know the brands of skate wheels were used? From the pictures Roland posted it looks like two different but similar kinds of wheels were used. One wheel is red and the other is bare metal. The picture where it shows the wheels from the front shows that they have different screws. And are there any top and bottom view pictures of the screen used board?

They are a Vintage 60s Pair of Globe Skate Corp.

Really great work on these boards, Make Believe! My friend and I have been talking about making some of the gang's hoverboards and this is a great inspiration for our project. I need to find those graphics in the paper props section now!

Thanks mate!
Good luck on your work

Roland, did you find out how high the kicktail is without the cut to make the top flat?

Hey guys, bumping up this thread, trying to get my head around to finishing this skateboard. I have seen some American black walnut, and seems to be the right colour? Could you guys confirm? What kind of wood would you say that the skateboard is? Thanks!

I think it was originally pine or oak and it was just an old board they found so it was darker. I'm going back home on Saturday so I will have some time to finish this project. I have the Native American decal on my crate. I just need to put the correct words and paint stains on it.

This is my progress right now. Only one set of front and back wheels are attacked right now. The others need to be sanded as they are very rusty.

I started the aging process. I did some tests with some scrap wood and found out that ebony wood stain that is then sanded the crap out of gives me the look I want. It's all done by hand since I don't have my electric sander with me lol. Pictures soon.

Here's my calculation, which I made for another member here a while ago. It seems the 1955 skateboard has exactly the same dimensions as the (Mattel) Hoverboard. :)

I would like to actually point out a small inaccuracy with your measurement of the width of the board. I made everything to the exact specs you gave, but it seems a little wide by about an inch or so. Maybe a little less. I could tell because my crate is the exact dimensions of the one in the movie and certain points of the board don't line up with the crate. Along with certain scenes with how Marty's shoes measure up on the board. My best guess is that the board is probably about 7 1/4 to 7 1/2 inches wide. I can till fix this even with how far I am in the project. I just have to raise a table saw blade all the way up and roll the board down the table.
