BTTF Delorean Pics at Universal Studios Backlot

Hey PropCollector55 -

When you were at Universal in 2008, did you happen to see any Knight Rider cars? There was one parked outside the tram garage until sometime in 2008.

Joe
No I did not see the Knight Rider car on display when I was there, however I think it was still parked at the tram garage.

As someone who has never been to studio tour, can someone tell me how these items are actualy presented?

Those pics of the Lyon estate walls for example. Is that simply where they have stored them and they are not in fact visible to the public?

Or is that part of the tour/what the public can see??

Erither way I dont understand why they are allowed to be in such bad condition.

If they are not for public display, why not simply throm a tarp over them! or give thewm a clear coat of some kind of varnish/laquer for a protective finish?

If they are viewed by the public, why not make them look at least presentable?

I just dont get the idea...

Because this kind of thing is "free added value", in that it's already paid for, and it has to sit somewhere, so it might as well be in view of the tram. Once they start spending money to maintain it, it defeats its own purpose. Then they have to consider if its contribution to the tour is worth the expense.

I'm not arguing against maintaining this stuff, mind you, but I can understand why they don't. The main purpose of the lot is still production and not tourism.

They are on the tour and are visable, and the tour guides talk about them, I am dissapointed that they are in such bad shape, It's a shame.

They are just basically sitting in a parking lot. From google maps:

Treadwell is correct. Studio's usually aren't in the business of preserving props and set pieces.

nice photos. it is a shame that studios don't take better care of props but they don't know if a movie is going to make money or tank. the Studio's would run our of room if they kept every single prop from every movie. I just wish the kept better care of at least the cars and trucks used in movies and not let them rot away or sell them to people that will trash them like they did with the BTTF DeLoreans that were used on screen.

i have the 2015 texaco car ..its on display and inside. heres a few pics of the underside is really cool now it was never seen in the movie and it does have the wheel decals on it now
