BTTF Delorean Pics at Universal Studios Backlot

I was on the lot about a month ago. Those Lyon Estate signs are in really bad condition. The lion's are pretty much completely sunken in and about to fall off.

That is horrible. They are in worse condition then when I went.
These need to be on display indoors or protected. They just leave them sit out there and rot.
If they are out there for too much longer, they are going to be horrible.
Does anyone know what they are made out of? Stone? Foam?

I saw the top of the clocktower when I went in 08.
It was pretty bad, I know in the 2000's they made they made it grey, but at least it still looks like the courthouse from BTTF, then it was total redone for Ghost Whisperer and now I'm not sure what it looks like.
Does anyone know where the original clock is? or those big cat statues?

the lyon estate signs look like theyre made out of a wooden or foam frame (hence the lion sinking into the sign) with like a canvas coloured like stone wrapped around them, i'm assuming that it's a canvas as it looks like some it near the top is peeling away but obviously im only guessing as i've never seen them first hand.

They are made out of wood and foam. A hard knock would probably leave a hole in it. Considering they have been sitting outside for 20+ years they are actually in fairly good condition.

It is really sad to watch them just disintegrate though. A couple more years and they will probably be trash.

Yeah. It's a shame.
Well, at lease the Lyon Estate letters, and the lions still remain on there.
Universal needs to seriously needs to think about moving them to a new, safe location...Like the prop warehouse.

No way the lettering on those Lyon signs is original.

I have a picture sitting here on my desk that shows completely different letters.

My pic was taken in 1991.

So it seems it's already been through one rework.

Wow, I guess the originals where so bad they had to make new ones.
They need to take these to a new, safe location before they are trash.
It's a shame they treat props worth so much money like this.

The courthouse and some of the BTTF set was the only thing that survived the baclot fire, at least the cousrthouse and some of the bulildings are still there.
There have been several fires over the years, and every scrap of the town square (save the courthouse) has burned down and been rebuilt at one time or another. There is nothing left of the original town square structures seen in BTTF except the courthouse, and even that has been drastically changed:

Should be noted, the "original" fluted columns and original entrance way are still there just behind that new brick facade.

Hey PropCollector55 -

When you were at Universal in 2008, did you happen to see any Knight Rider cars? There was one parked outside the tram garage until sometime in 2008.
