BSG Agro Ship / Botanical Cruiser - Finished!

Re: BSG Agro Ship / Botanical Cruiser

Wow, this is amazing.

Question is: where are you going to put it and how the heck are you going to dust it?

My wife would kill me....

Re: BSG Agro Ship / Botanical Cruiser

Thanks guys.
Underside of the nose section is finished.
Seems the CG artist liked to detail this model with real world kit parts - expensive kit parts :angry

Months? I cant wait months!
Actually its no problem. Along with the mint kit in the pic, I Also picked up a poorly built SeaLab off Ebay to cannibalize for parts.

Detailing the top of the command section.

Bending that tiny black metal wire was dangerous work. Had to clean up several blood drops from the model.

The green antenna dishes up front are tips of plastic easter eggs. Green eggs work best for some reason. Any other color wouldn't cut smooth. The Y shaped antennas are bits of railing from the Hasegawa Leopold rail gun.

As a BSG fan, I'm astounded with the detail, and size, of this ship. The model is so very clean looking. Amazing work!

Cheers,

Re: BSG Agro Ship / Botanical Cruiser

That is truly a professional build! Looks great, I can't wait to see more!

Re: BSG Agro Ship / Botanical Cruiser

Thank you for the kind remarks guys - Much appreciated.

Here I'v created the upper & lower truss work that covers the main body of the ship.
The assemblies turned out to be surprisingly sturdy when all put together.

Re: BSG Agro Ship / Botanical Cruiser

Fantastic work! Likely better constructed than the original as that was a good many years ago. (Believe Trumbul released "Silent Running" shortly after "2001," roughly 1972.
Am so impressed.

This has to one of the top 5 coolest things I have seen on this board and
I have seen some really cool stuff.

Awesome job!

Re: BSG Agro Ship / Botanical Cruiser

Starting the ships 15 domes.
Agro_Ship_Plans_005-copy-2.jpg

The basic tubes and rings for the domes pedestals are machined from PVC and the domes bases are made up of four acrylic rings sandwiched together.

The laser did a nice job of cutting out the 32 facets that make up each ring.
O21000034copy.jpg

The top ring sits on posts sort of like a railing and over 1000 little square chips had to be glued to the rim of all the rings.

Here are all the pedestals with some styrene adornment added and all the completed dome bases.

Next up... vacuforming the clear domes.
