Hello everyone!
I'd like to share my costume from this year's halloween with you all! So my boyfriend and I love dressing up for halloween and I have to say I think we've both caught the costuming bug and intend to do cosplays in the future. Anyways for this year we decided to do Captain America and the Winter Soldier. Him as captain america and me as good ol' bucky.

Technically I ordered all of my guns first just because I was so excited to play with airsoft guns. Being a girl and having no brothers growing up I kinda missed out on all that. I ended up purchasing the galaxy g1 and g2 combo pack. They turned out really nice all metal nice weight to them. I got a cheap uzi skorpion for my back. I took off all the metal parts so that way it wouldn't be heavy and make my straps ride up. Finally, for bucky's grenade launcher I took a Raider cs-18 nerf gun that we had lying around and plastidipped it black. I thought the pump-action of the gun was similar to that of the grenade launcher and I had fun actually being able to shoot people.

So basically to create my winter soldier outfit I started with the jacket. I told an old leather biker jacket and modified it by sewing leather straps onto the front and back and ripping off the arm.

Then I moved onto the belt. I ordered a tactical belt off of amazon here I carved grenades out of yellow foam and was able to stick them where the magazine pouches were on my sides. On my right side I used cardboard wrapped in leather to create the custom holder he has for his guns and knives. On my right side I just made a drop leg holster to house the bigger of the galaxy guns I got. I know technically its supposed to be a silver sig sauer but the metal guns actually turned out to be too heavy for the side panel on my left so I divided them up.

Knee pads were from ebay here but I had to cut them down as they were WAYYY too big for my stubby knees (i'm 5'3")
The pants were leggings that I already owned as well as the boots. I think that if I had more time I would go back and add more fabric to make them higher. Perhaps I will for the Cleveland Comic Con.

The goggles were child's biker goggles that I super glued eva foamies to make the profile of them cover more of my face like his does. I'm actually really proud of how I make my face mask though. I kept reading on here how much people couldn't breathe through the latex ones they ordered or it got hot in fabric ones. So I took door screen mesh and layered it together to make the sections of my mask then simply sewed it together. The screen was already grey so I painted the sections that were supposed to be black. I took eva foamies and cut out the front cover and sides and plastidipped them to seal them then hot glued them on. It ended up being light and super breathable while still covering my face in the correct way.

The back holster was made similarly to the leg panel. I used cardboard wrapped in leather and eva foamies to give it that sectioned look. The straps were actually found at a discount store and I cut them up and laced them together to form the front straps. I put eyelets in them for that added detail.
Securing the skorpion on my back was one of my challenges. I had initially wanted to use magnets to hold it but the turned out to be too weak. I instead ended up using white elastic tied around each end and then tied around the back. I sharpied it black so it wouldn't stick out.

Finally my arm. Which of course I left for last.
So we made a plaster cast of my arm so that I could mold worbla against it to get the correct shape. After I got the basic shape of the bicep and forearm in two different pieces I cut out shapes in the worbla mimicking the sections of the arm and the parting lines. This was my first time working with the stuff but for some reason it wouldn't stick on so I ended up super gluing it and it held fine.
Originally I had bought chrome car vinyl (the kind you heat shrink) but the jokers on ebay ended up selling me adhesive back vinyl (which you cannot heat shrink and sticks to everything and is a horrible terrible mess). Well when that didn't work I did a ton of research on chrome spray paint. I was weary at first because I didn't believe that you could get a shiny finish out of it but I finally settled on rustoleum brand which ended up turning out pretty good. For the star I had also ordered red satin chrome vinyl which was actually car vinyl so it filled into the cracks really well.

The arm pieces didn't connect so to solve my elbow issue I bought a silver glove that came up to my bicep. Now that covered my fingers and elbow just fine but there was the issue of how to keep it from slipping down and also my entire armpit was exposed. To fix that I hacked up the other glove and made a harness out of it.

All in all I was really happy with my costume and we had a lot of fun going to parties.

Eventually I plan to take some really nice action shots on location where the movie was actually filmed so I i'll post those as soon as the weather gets nice enough to take them!

Oh also I forgot to mention I cut my hair for this as well!
