Browncoats patch?

Does anyone know if this patch a Browncoats patch, an Alliance patch, or some other patch?

I don't remember seeing it as a patch.

But it is the Alliance seal that's on the food bars in the pilot.

tee.. I submitted that graphic. Yay.

It's the patch worn by the Alliance soldiers in the Starship Troopers armor in the Firefly series.

I *think* the BMP in that thread is reversed, going off the density of the kanji characters and the other places we see the Alliance "manhole cover" logo.
