Fantastic Brian..not long now...can't wait to see you suited up.

Sean
Thank you sir!  I ordered the ink I need this morning, seeing as now they're telling me it's gonna be the middle of next month before they have any in stock.  I hate paying more for shipping that the actual product, but I hate the idea of waiting a month for it even more :)  I'll be sure and get allot of pics when I start the paint.  Stay tuned...

Why have I not seen or commented on this yet?!   (slaps own face)   Some of the best foamies etc work I've seen recently.  Damn nice build man.

Um, I don't know Tom.  I thought maybe you just couldn't be bothered  :p.  Thank you for the compliments, they are very appreciated!

Brian -
Been gone awhile but wanted to say great work.
Especially love the work and detail on the backpack/cannon.

Thanks, means allot.  The backpack turned out better than I thought.  In fact, this whole build has turned out better than I expected it to.  I actually made a new mount for the cannon, as the last one seemed to thin and fragile looking.  It was also a little too long for my taste.  I'll try and get a pic posted when I update with the final paint work.

And speaking of final paint...my FW ink should be here tomorrow, so I'll be heading down the home stretch this weekend.  I see no reason why by this time next week I'll have a completed pred suit, and be asking for my spot in the completed suit thread.  I can hardly wait for my first full suit up!!!  Who knows...maybe I'll climb a tree  :D!

Brian

Feet are done  :D!  I was really hoping to update this with both the feet and the legs being complete, but it wasn't meant to be.  In my rush to get white ink here, I failed to check on how much Pros-Aide I had.  You guessed it...not enough %&@#$!!!  So, with what I had left, I decided to finish up the feet, and took lots of progress shots along the way to give you an idea of how I do my paint.  I'm sure there's better ways, and if I were to do it over, I would change the colors, but I had to match what was already done.  As you can see, I added some blue EVA foam to the bottom, as well as (what you can't see) inside the foot.  I then put a pair ow work boots on top of that, for a total of 2" of lift.  I could have probably got more, but I didn't want it to look too "lifted".  I then took some latex and roughly blended the foam into the feet, again to help it look more natural.  After a couple coats of latex, I added the Pros-aide and base coated them with the white, mixed with a few drops of burnt umber.  Once that was dry, red earth was sprayed on in a somewhat "random" pattern to help in shading the lower spots.  The last steps are adding the larger spots using burnt umber, and then the small spots using straight black.  I mix all my inks 50% ink, and 50% isopropyl alcohol (99%), and spray it all using an Iwata HP-CS airbrush. Once the spots are done, I let it sit over night and go back with a mix of 50% water and 50% Permawet to seal them, and give them the glossy shine.  I haven't figured out what I'm going to do with the slits in the back yet, and won't know until I can get the legs and armor on to see how it all works together.  All that's left to do on this guy is paint the legs...and the Pros-Aide should be here Wednesday, so I should be able to suit up this weekend!  Sooooooo EXCITED!!!  Stay tuned...

Brian

This looks fabulous Brian! Where did you get the latex feet from? They look really good. Forgive me if you mentioned it earlier in the thread but I don't remember you mantioning where you got them. Excellent job on the paint up. I am excited that you are getting close to being done as well. The suit look great!

Thanks Steve, really appreciate the kind words.  Guess I didn't mention where I got them from.  The feet and hands came from Monstorroom.  I'm pleased with both of them, and they are both on the smaller side, so they fit me well.

The Pros-Aide came in the mail on Wednesday, so I was able to spend the day Thursday getting the legs painted and clear coated.  For those who have followed this WIP, you know what that means... THE SUIT IS DONE!!!  I spent some time yesterday working out a few bugs, and putting on as much of it as I can without help (which I have to have).  I have yet to do a full suit up, but did get it out back on my dummy to snap a few pics (that I'll post a little later).  Sorry no progress pics on the legs, I was too much in the zone to bother, and I wanted to get em' done ASAP.  I still can't believe I have a complete and wearable predator costume hanging out in the corner of the room.  I was hoping to get some pics at the park today, but it's snowing right now, and is supposed to turn to rain later on this afternoon.  You have my word, as soon as weather permits and I have someone to snap some pics, I'll post em here.  Enough of my rambling, on to the pics...

Way to go Brian, loving them and thanks for the breakdown of the painting technique..

Hope you found it somewhat helpful Sean.  Like I said, I'm no pro, but did want to post some pics of how I do it.  Thanks for the kind words.

Your paint up is very impressive nice work.
I appreciate it.  I guess it's not too bad for an amateur.  I learned allot along the way and wanted to share my experiences with others.

Well done mate pics are fantastic..YOU HAVE A PRED..get suited up and let us see some pics..

Now the fun starts...start refining..build you pred wardrobe..lol

These pics were taken Thursday night...the first time the whole thing was put together.  I couldn't get the hands to stay on, and it was still mounted to the base, hence the reason no feet or hands (he does look better with them all on, the legs don't look so "stubby").  I hope to get some pics suited up tonight, but I need help to get it all on.  All the bugs are worked out, so it's a wrap for this one.  Comments and opinions welcome!

Thank you sir, I had soooo much fun building it, and learned a TON in the process.  You'll get there, and when you do, I promise it's worth it all.

Snapped a few more pics inside before suiting up and getting some outdoor pics.  I'm amazed at how much more comfortable it is than I thought it would be.  I'm not saying I want to wear it all day every day, but I really expected it to be much worse than it is.  I have to say, it's gonna take some time getting used to it, and becoming aware that there's "stuff" hangin' off of it and "things" stickin' out where there wouldn't normally be anything.   My camera is crap indoors, but I did get some outside pics with a better one...I'll post those up once I get them on my hard drive.  More to come!
