Well, welcome to the Lair my friend, and thanks. My first project was a custom plasma cannon I threw together, and that was it...I was hooked. Best thing I can tell you is read, read, then read some more. Don't hesitate to ask questions, and remember, the search button can be your best friend!

Actually 007, it's my second cannon :p http://www.thehunterslair.com/topic/28697-first-project-custom-plasma-cannon-finally-finished/ First one I made was just for fun, and sits on the shelf right behind me with all the rest of my pred stuff.

great work there nearly done now!!!
Fantastic Brian... As predwolf said you can't have much more to do. Then back to beginning and upgrade.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the kind words. I am getting close. The back pack/torso armor is built and ready for paint. I need to do the shoulder bells, bicep armor, and the shins to complete the armor. Skins are ready for paint (already started on the torso) but my motivation to get out the AB is lacking, so instead of "forcing a crap job" I'm gonna wait until I get a little more fire under my butt. I'm super happy with the way things are turning out, and can't wait to show you all the back pack/torso armor! :) Soon, I promise!!!

Brian

Awesome stuff Brian, whats left on this?

Thanks Jason. The biggest part left to complete is painting the skins. Like I posted before, I'm not super excited about messing with the AB at the moment, but Will try and get the torso finished up in the next few days. I'm in the process of painting the back pack, armor, and one shoulder bell, as well as working on the mount for the cannon. Once all that's finished, the top half will be complete. Oh, forgot about the hands. I'll paint those up when I'm doing the torso. As far as the bottom half, I need to paint the legs and feet, and make shin and thigh armor. I have everything I need to complete it, I just need to get off my arse and do it. It's getting there slowly but surely. I'll most likely post some more pics tonight of where I'm at with the back pack etc. Thanks for looking!

Brian

Looking forward to seeing them bud.

Painting hands and torso together is the best idea, you'll get a better colour match that way and the same with the legs and feet.

Quick update to show the back pack, torso armor, and cannon mount. At this point they're only spray painted silver, so they're looking a little "cheesy". :p As with the rest of the armor, I used foamies and sintra, along with poster and foam board. The cannon mount will be removable, as will the cannon. I straps are green because I taped them up to paint (one permanent attachment point on the shoulder, and 2 removable/adjustable on front and around back. The backpack is a part of the armor, and the whole thing slips on and off easily. I'm very pleased with the outcome, and hope to get the final paint job done on them tomorrow (I'll post pics when I do). So, what needs improved? Thanks for looking!

Jeez Brian you have some talent there sir. Fantastic.. Keep the pics coming, the finishing line is in site...

Thats some good attention to detail you have shown there Brian, stella job! Now get some whethering on that thing!

Awesome, if you wanna add a more rugged aged look then add over some black wash in the join areas or shadow areas. Just imagine adding dirt to anywhere that you think dirt would get caught

The pics make it look "cleaner" than it is. Believe me, it's plenty dirty. :D I was hoping that the natural light would show off the "true colors" of it, but they still came out lighter and brighter than they really are. Oh well... Thanks for the feedback HH, much appreciated!

No worries bud, happy to help a fellow member and remark on great quality pieces that people make out of nothing. I have nothing but the upmost respect for people that can take a bottle and turn it into a gauntlet or take foam boards and create armour.

Keep up the good work bud

As you wish Jason :)

Brian, this has turned out really good...and you show your age very well too....I guess I always thought you would look a little older.... :p (just kidding...I know it is not you)

Seriously though you have done a great job on this. I love seeing your build come together.

LOL Steve, cracked me up! Thanks for the kind words, they keep me moving forward. I'm at the point where all I need to do is the black spots on the torso, seal it, and the top half will be DONE! In what little free time I've had lately, I've been focusing on working out the dread issues, and I've finally got it worked out. Time to bite the bullet and buy a gallon of silicone, as casting them one at a time would take 20+ hours, and that's not an option. I hope to get the spots done and all sealed up before Thanksgiving so I can start on the legs. I was hoping that "Pred Santa" could deliver some gifts around Christmas time ;)

Brian

I found the time this morning to finish the paint on the torso, so as of right now the top half is COMPLETE...YAY!!! Once the permawet dries I'm going to take it off the dummy and start work on the lower half. The end is so close now I can taste it, and it's keeping me motivated to keep pushing forward with it. We're going away for Thanksgiving for a few days, so there won't be any chance to work on it, and it's time to start putting up the Christmas lights (I'm one of THOSE guys), so progress will probably be a little slow, but I'm gonna try and get in what time I can to get this guy finished up. Thanks to all for the support and encouragement!

Brian
