Brian's Pred Suit... Updated Fanboy Expo Pics On Last Page.

Time for a long overdue update. I've got all the latex on the torso, and have the Velcro installed on the back. I'm sort of figuring this out as I go, so the bottom edge will get cleaned up or covered somehow. The hands are ready for claws and paint. I basically made a mold of my hand, and used a pair of latex covered cotton gloves. 4 thin coats of latex were applied over them, then I'll add the claws and paint em' up. Sorry no pics of the process, I work alone and it's hard to get pics while I'm working. I've got the neck ring done as well, with the exception of cutting it and adding velcro. Any ideas/help on that would be great. Not allot to show, but I'm getting there...

Looking good Brian! How does the torso fit you? Is it fairly tight? For the neck ring, what about getting a piece of wide velcro, say 2" and split one part of it length wise. Then glue the back of each half inside either edge of the cut on the neck ring and simply stick the other part of the velcro to both pieces from the inside. You could then peel either side loose to get it open. Just an idea...keep up the good work.

Thanks Steve. The torso fits okay...it's a little looser than I had hoped but it will do for the time being. I'll try and get a pic up later on. The legs are the part that's giving me fits right now...I need to figure out a way to take up some "slack" and make em' a little tighter. There's already 2 coats of latex on them so sewing isn't really an option at this point. As far as the velcro goes, that's a good idea. I want to make it as easy to put on/remove as possible. I think I'm just going to make a "tab" that fits inside the ring, with one side of the velcro attached to the tab, and one to the ring. Once the final coat of perma wet is dry I'll give it a shot.

I haven't been able to get as much done over the last week as I wanted to, but do have a little update. I've got the final coat of latex on the hands, have added the claws (not liking the way they turned out, but meh), and have the base coat done on them. I have some leather gloves that I'm going to hack up to use for the gloves he wears, but they will need to be painted to match the rest of the leather that will be used. I've also completed the belt (with butt flap thingy) and buckle, and figured a way to attach it so it's removable. I've just finished the last (I hope) coat of latex on the legs, and want to start painting this weekend. I'll definately get lots of pics on that process. I'm also hoping to finish the blade gaunt (both blades are now done), and get a good start on the bomb gaunt. I'll post here as I have more to show. Thanks...

Couple more pics before bed to show how the torso fits. It's a little baggy in the arms, but that will be taken care of with the gaunts. Over all, I'm happy.

Looking good Brian can't wait to see the paint job.

I will be planning to wear a skinz Lycra suit underneath the pred skin and plan to pad it out a bit with bits of foam for more muscle tone. I am very skinny and will have to do something to pad the suit out as I will look like I come from the anorexic tribe..lol

Hey Brian, this is really looking good bro...keep the pics coming. It looks like you are doing a good job on that skin...I like it!

Time for another update :D ! I've had a pretty productive few days, and thought I'd post a few pics of what I've got accomplished. The blade gauntlet is FINALLY done, and I'm loving the way it turned out :(. It's obviously not screen accurate, but I did what I could to make it "semi recognizable" using a few pics I got here and there. The entire thing is made from sintra, wood, and foamies...super light weight. The blades are removable, and the top comes off for "storage" (gotta have some place to stash my stuff! I also got a good start on the bomb gauntlet. I'm not sure if this version is going to be lit or not (probably not big enough as is) but I left it so I could get to all the insides if I decide to go with something simple. I'm going to do an arduino version at a later date, and will be able to remove the existing top and replace it with that. Hopefully I'll get it finished up and painted tomorrow. It was constructed using the same materials as the blade gauntlet, and is also super light. Thanks for looking, and stay tuned...

Brian

P.S. I also got a good start on painting the skins, but that's an update for another time!

Brian, sweet looking job! Very clean lines...they are turning out great. You are giving me things to mull over for when I get to that point myself...

Steve

They both look fantastic Brian.. Love the way the blade gauntlet slopes down at the back...nice.

Sean
Brian my man, that is a killer looking gauntlet kudos to you bud

Thank you gentlemen, I really appreciate the kind words. I've been building models since I was 5, and learned very early on that the details can make or break. My biggest problem is when to say "enough". I can't tell you how many times I took it one step too far and ruined the whole look I was going for. I figured this time around I would keep it simple, and add more if need be. Anyone see anything missing or that can be improved on? Thanks for looking!

Finally had some time to work on a few things, and post an update. I've got the bomb gauntlet and cannon done. Both made from sintra and foamies. I didn't have all the stuff on hand, so I'll add the LED's to the display at a later date. I also plan to add some LED's to the cannon for the flash effect, but that too will have to wait. Sorry for the crap pics...time for me to invest in a new camera. Thanks for looking!
