Borderlands 2 Crimson lance/Raiders costume

EDIT 19/11/13

I have had a couple of emails about templates and how the helmet was made, so I have decided to upload the models for the templates which I edited. As per usual, each of the non-symetrical templates need to be drawn out twice; One on each side for the left and right side.

http://www.4shared.com/file/mCFQvVo4/crimson_lance_helmet_2_foam.html

P.S if anyone mentions the body armor, I can upload those aswell.

So to continue on for my love for borderlands, I am making a full costume, either the crimson lance costume, or the crimson raiders; I haven't decided on which one I will do yet. I am doing the helmet and chest armor, regardless of which one I pick. I will be making my armor and helmet using EVA foam. (I think everyone here knows what EVA is)

This is the mock helmet I made. I used whatever scrap foam I had lying around, I will be building the proper helmet when my EVA foam arrives.

More will come when my foam arrives.

Update time!

My EVA foam arrived a couple of days ago, and I have been busy making the costume. So far, I have made the helmet (apart from the front nozzle) and the base for the chest. I will add the accessories to it over the next few days.

He is me wearing it.

More to come as mentioned over the days. As I'm typing this, I'm already working on the shoulder/pauldron and the backpack. See you soon!

Moar will be coming very soon. I've made the backpack and I've also decided to paint it red. I've also decided to go with the full crimson lance suit when I aquire a boiler suit.

Update:

I've made the backpacks, both shoulders, the nozzle for the front of the helmet, back flaps for the back of the helmet and the shoulder/pauldrons. (pic of backpack isn't taken yet.) All the peices have been PVA'd to seal and reduce wrinkling when it come to painting.

Nozzle, made from 6mm camping foam.

Back pads for the helmet. (The top part will be hidden in the helmet.)

Shoulder/pauldrons. (I have done both, but only one was shown.)

Fortunately, I had enough foam to make the body armor, helmet and accessories for the body armor, unfortunately I haven't got enough for the knee/shin pads, the forarms and the hip peices so they will be done in the future. I still need to paint it red/black, but I'm not sure when I'm getting paint. I'll update once al the peices have been painted and attached.

Update:

I have been doing more foam work to the chest. It now has a neck "seal" thingy, a collar and the backpacks. It still needs another collar and a couple more foam peices until it can be painted.

Thanks man! I really appreciate it. If its borderlands related stuff you made, please feel free to post some pics on this page, I would love to see what you've done. As for garry's mod, I already have 3d models of the crimson lance I can view in pepakura, but thanks for the info anyway!

UPDATE:

So its been a while since the last update, I moved this project to the side but now I'm back on it. I have been painting it and working on weathering.

Helmet

Shoulder

I'm working on the armor right now so that will follow shortly.

I know it's technically BL1, but every time I see one of these helmets all I can think of is the one guy from Knoxx's troop recordings singing about "Ice cream day". You should sing that from time to time when trooping around =0)

Great work so far!

I remember that mission, pain in the ass though, the amount of crimson lances that spawned was ridiculous. Unfortunately, my armor was badly damaged by my paint and beyond saving. I will rebuild it in the future, I've just been busy getting ready for college.

hey, sorry for the long waiting time, you can see how it came out so far, tho.... im redoing the shoulder guards... they came out a bit to small compared to the rest of the armour :D

I love your detailing work on the armor, care to share how you did it? :) also, did you scratch build it?

sure i'd tell how :D first i, like you, do the eva models., then i add a layer (1-4layers) of p.v.a. glue. it secures the foam and gives a nice texture to paint on.
once dry, i paint it all black as a base colour, it adds some nice shadows, once you give it your choise of colour, mine was white as you could see.... when you got your basic paint as you want it you add details... for the shoulder, you start by triming it around whit acrylic paint, gives a nice matt look.
once i dries, you take a parmenent marker and start makeing lines where needed, use some reference pictures if you're unsure how it looks.... it really helps alot.... agian whit the "garry's mod" i talked about earlier, its good for details.
once done whit the marker, its time for shadowing.... take some darkgrey paint, i use acrylic for this. and mix it good whit water, 50/50 paint/water. and gently add it to deep egdes, and places you want to look more "dirty". and that should be about it. any questions?

Actually, there is one more thing, how did you make the red lenses? I can make black lenses using VHT niteshades but I would rather have it red.
P.S. I saw your psycho mask aswell, nice work.
