Boba Fett Pulce 40 Empire Strikes Back Pistol

The back and front parts simply slip off. The band around the barrel (middle arrow) is the piece that often cracks, but it is cut off anyway (this is new info) so it doesn't matter that this part is often damaged... but several of us have sold or passed on gun with cracked bands previously, not knowing you simply cut that part off anyway.

While many of you will likely be displaying your pistol with your costume, I don't have a costume, so I designed a small display stand for the holster and pistol to be displayed side by side, so both of them could be shown off. Still need to paint the base black and need to do a little extra work on the holster, but I am pretty thrilled with the simplicity of this display.

Art do you happen to know what red paint has been used on the handle, is it filled and what mods did you/do you have to make to the holster?

Its certainly grown on me. I'd not considered one but got lucky and found both parts in the space of a week. Will go nice with the EE-3 once I get round to actually putting it together.

How do you know the strap wasn't present during the film and didn't break off after filming?

While I was able to share this information with you because of a private photo (mentioned in the first post) which showed the pistol without the top-strap, there is a second part to the story that hasn't been previously told.

As many of you know, I spent quite a bit of time at the Skywalker Ranch Archives while working for ANOVOS. 119 days to be exact.

While there, I rediscovered Fett's pistol in the bottom of a container of weapons. It had been there, presumably, since the Ewok adventure movies. I was able to personally inspect the pistol up close. The strap was not broken off. It had been purposefully cut, sanded off, and painted over.

This was one of many extremely exciting moments for me as I was able to help reunite Fett's pistol with his holster for the first time since ESB and now they live at the Archives together, as they should.

I don't know the red. Keegan painted it for me (I can't see color well).

The hole in the bottom of the grip is filled, but crudely.

Beyond that, I modified the internals of mine so the trigger still works without the rod sticking out the front.

I also wrapped a band of silver metal tape around the barrel... I think that was pretty much it.

I am so very excited to share this image with you. After 18 years of doing this, I finally have ONE piece completed! You might be thinking "yeah... So? Many people have a Pulce 40." Not like this!

About three years ago, I obtained a photo of Fett's original pistol, OUT OF THE HOLSTER. Sadly, this was a no-share photo (and still is), but it clearly showed features on the pistol that we had not previously known; the two primary differences being that the logo has been removed and that the top band on the pistol was cut away! I know some of you are probably thinking "I'd never cut my original Pulce without proof" and I wouldn't blame you, but I hope that me showing you that I was confident enough to cut my original Pulce and remove the logos from it will give you confidence to follow my lead. If not, I understand, but I wanted to put the information out there even though I am unable to back it up.

Beyond the physical aspects, Keegan did an absolutely incredible job painting and weathering this for me and is very true to the original photo I have, including the band of tape around the barrel. Now.... we won't talk about how long he takes to paint things... Nope... not at all... BUT, it was WELL worth the wait!

Enjoy!

Amazing! Lovely blaster, thanks for sharing! I have tried to avoid the path to this particular gun, but...

Now that's a Kodak moment...wink wink.

Thank you for sharing that sorry Art, amazing you found it, and even more amazing that you got it back in the holster..
