I'm currently making a friday the 13th style machete and I just got done aging the blade to look very old, now I want to add some dried up blood on the blade, I don't want it to look fresh at all.. any tips would be great!

Lots of options, most important you want that dark brownish red color, Elmer's glue is a good base to start with as it will stick and adds body, you can also dice/shred toilet paper and mix that in to give it more texture or a chunky look if you want...

But, if you just want some quick staining the above soy sauce sounds interesting...

I used red Halloween hairspray on my Leatherface apron. It dried about the color of henna so does look a bit like dried blood. I'm not sure how it would look on a machete, but I believe it's water soluble so if you don't like it, it should wash off.

Tamiya clear red, with a couple of drops of brown added, really is the best blood mix i've used, heres a dr tongue i used a lot on it

this was mostly from the bottle, but i added darker runs here and there

experiment by adding more brown etc to the mix, makes it look really old, for texture, i'd use latex and tissue, with small bits of foam or floral foam ground up for chunks, add hair etc with latex

Agreed on the Tamiya Clear Red. For fresh blood, I go 4:1 of Clear Red and Clear Yellow.

You could start with this as a base, and experiement to get the older darker look.

In first-aids lessons, we use some fake blood to simulate wounded legs or arms and it is really realistic looking !!!

Theres usually someone on here who'll know whatever problem comes along, it really is a great resource
good luck with it
the zombie was my version of Dr tongue from day of the dead, it was an animatronic puppet, i used plenty of differing bloods on it, all mixed up from a base of tamiya clear red

The best thing I've found is leather dye from Tandy Leather. This is on a blade (an aluminum ruler) from a prop bayonet I made. Its a mix of Red and Saddle Brown. It dries great and you can add to it later to give it depth for a more realistic look. Make sure to check the red color first. The last time, I got the wrong one. It had more of a pink base and didn't work at all.

I repainted this toy for my friend. I took some bondo glazing putty and spray painted it red and then splattered and dabbed it on the toy with a sponge and old paintbrush.
