Blending Dragon skin prosthetics

Hi, I'm sorry if this has been discussed previously but i searched the forum and couldn't find an answer.
I am a makeup artist who has recently started practicing with Dragon Skin FX from smooth on. I managed to make some prostethics using molds, but when it came to the application it was a complete disaster. I could not get the edges to blend well with the skin, and the skin tite that they sell only made the edges look thicker and more noticeable. I tried using alcohol and witch hazel to see if they would blend the edges but that also didn't help. I contacted Smooth on and asked what type of solvents i could use and they basically said that none would work, that i had to manage with the skin tite. Is there anyone who could guide me or give me some tips regarding how to achieve natural looking edges for prosthetics?
I appreciate it, thanks ;)

silicone really should be retarded and encapsulated and its the encapsulate that is blended. otherwise you'll just have to learn how to run pieces with tissue edges

Exactly what Fettster said. Silicone itself can't be disolved once it's set to take away edges. A lot of people encapsulate their appliances with Super Baldiez II to make an edge that you can blend away with a little 99% alcohol.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I had no idea you could encapsulate silicone. I am mostly self taught so i have to figure out things by myself since there aren't any makeup schools or sfx resources in my country.

I've learned to make paper thin edges and that solved my problems, but it's also the way I was taught so it's the 'go-to' that I do for it. I've heard of quite a few techniques that others use that seem to work well.

Also, it took me a while to be able to work well with Skin Tite so don't be discouraged. It's a tricky, hateful compound but it does a good job. :)

Thank you so much, I'm gonna purchase the material to encapsulate the silicone and also try to get those edges to be thinner and practice a lot!
