Blastech E-11 De-milled Sterling L2A1 Base

So after looking a the Rubies, DuppyDoos, Airsoft, and other Replica E11’s our there, I decided I wanted the real deal.

I ordered the Numrich Sterling Mk IV L2A3 parts kit, that is a demilled SMG. I plan to make sure it stays compliant with all Laws and cannot ever be made to live fire. This is a major project for me but I think will be rewarding when complete.

I got everything prepped, all the slag removed, and areas ground down smooth. I found a piece of CPVC at Home Depot (I found it difficult to find the correct OD metal tube to fit the ID of the Sterling body). I didn’t measure it, but I would guess it to be about 1.4” ID.

I started in the back and fit the tube and the end together with the cut down CPVC and used my dremil to cut the area for cocking handle. At first I was going for workable bolt and planned to just cut the spring off some. Unless you TIG weld it back up I don’t think maintaining a workable bolt is possible.

I ended up epoxying the pieces back together which meant in the center in order to see spring and bolt, I had to use the bolt to stablize the three middle pieces and epoxy then to it. I then used some JB weld to fill the voids of the seams. It needs a lot of filing and sanding to smooth the seams but I think it will work. Here is progress so far.

Finally got finished with this minus some touch up painting. May still do a few things to spiff is up, but turned out well for a wall hanger.

I just recently had my own stunt E-11 finished by a good friend with a lot more skills and couldn’t be happier with it!
Still a standard E-11 is on my wish list but since Sterling’s aren’t easily available anymore I doubt I will get one...

Absolutely great job!! Really impressive considering the state of the kit to begin with. I was lucky enough to get a complete Sterling a while back and turned it into an ANH version.

Thank you all for the compliments. These are a lot of work especially given how knarled up the demilled kits can be. I do still have some minor work to do on it, but I kind of wanted that used, abused “relic” feel for it.

awesome job Kylo1! After doing one of these myself, I really can appreciate all the work that goes into restoring one of these.

At some point in the future I will take it apart and actually TIG weld everything and re-use the demilled bolt. I made one with PVC for the interim since that is how the body is supported currently (pvc, epoxy, and plumbers putty). It is good enough for display at the moment.

TIG welding would definitely beef it up. Since I can’t TIG weld, I used MIG welds to put mine together and grind away the excess material.

I really want to get started on an E-11 kit, but have no idea on where to start? I know that I don’t likely have the skills to do a rebuild, like shown here in this thread; but would be interested in some advice on maybe a Fieldmarshall kit?

Fieldmarshall’s kit is an excellent choice without having to ‘fix’ anything broken like a demilled kit. With that said it still can be labor intensive to put together. Here a recent thread on FISD where someone put a kit together: My e11 build (Fieldmarshall kit)
