Blade Runner money

I've been getting more requests for "status" on the Blade Runner money I made a while back, so I finally got off my butt and finished the bill art. Printed on linen-based paper, soon to be sporting metallic foils (I need to do the foil application this weekend). Each bill requires four passes through two different printers, and then foil, hand trimming, and THEN "hand cancel" stamps and weathering... halfway there now! I'll post the final results this weekend... busy adding a few fun twists, of course! I've made a "Bank Envelope" and am working on a deposit/withdrawal receipt. I sourced a paper for the envelope that feels like that crappy paper that banks use, too... so the money feels "gritty" like some real money does when you rub it against other bills, and the envelope also feels like it's supposed to.

****ING AWESOME! Very nice prop interpretation of a so-so movie. :lol

Too bad that movie didn't create more interest among prop fans, guess it was pretty weak on props and set decorations.

That currency looks fantastic.

Damn man, it's like you're reading my mind. :lol When I was thinking about BR currency, one of my related ideas was a withdrawal envelope. A logical addition, I suppose.

That whole shebang's getting pretty damn nice. Money looks beautiful, BTW.

The multiple passes, multiple printers also crossed my mind. Problem is, I'd want one of those nice inkjets with extremely small droplet size and like 9 colors, so I could have real tight control over color separations. And I'd want some invisible inks, and, and, and ... :rolleyes

Holy freaking cow! :eek

Those look great. They should be used as a prop for a current film production. I saw some of your set that MGoob had. Fantastic work.

I wondered what happened with this project Jason. It looked like you got off to a great start and then other stuff took over.

Glad to see you're back at it with this one!

Looks great as ever.

Yeah, I was busy doing work for a paper prop company. Too bad I thought I was actually going to get paid for the work I did, lol. So it's fitting that I'm "making money" now, heh.

Wait wait wait - if some prop company's not playing fair with you, we need to know about it.

HOLY FRAKKING WOW!!!

That money is A W E S O M E.

:eek :eek :eek :eek :eek

Glad to see this is still alive!

The bills look great, Jason. I especially like the "traditional/old" design aspects of the money combined with the "future" and film-related images like the spinner and the owl.

The blimp, and now the money, not to mention your real-world job... my, you HAVE been busy!

Thanks for keeping us updated! :thumbsup

Very interested if you offer this beautiful product. My Blade Runner collection would dance with joy.

That definitely sucks but I'm sure there are plenty of your fellow BR collectors who would be willing to trade you authentic, genuine, 100% U.S. legal tender for some of your inspired and creative bills. :love

Kind of reminds me of the Mr. Show skit where David Cross founds New Freeland and makes his own money. :lol

Keep us updated with pics on how the foil application turns out.

Thanks,
Bruce

Weird denominations they have in the future :lol

Awesome work BTW. These will look sooo good sitting next to a PKD and a whiskey bottle with matching glasses :thumbsup

Haha, I had no idea what they actually said, but wanted to isolate the same denominations from the source bills I hacked asunder...

I may be ignorant, but I am considerate! :lol

I'll probably sell "overages" of what i made (honestly, I'm truly humbled that some of you "really" want the fantasy stuff I made up), but I don't want to turn this into a for sale thread, so sit tight if you want some. Soon.

I hope I can get one of those bottles too - so cool!!

Jason,

These look fantastic. I loved what you did with the stock certificate and these turned out REALLY cool.

I can't wait to see the foil job.
