Blade Runner Blaster Questions

If I can find a bulldog frame without buying the whole gun, I will have all the part's necessary... revolver wise anyway. and Rich your blaster kit Is awesome! but one day I would like to have a steel styer receiver bought or machined...

Consider these facts:

I have not seen a Steyr receiver under $1000.00 and the complete rifles run $1500.00 and up.

You will need a VERY good machine shop to do the machining. IF they mess up you're out the $1500.00 for the Steyr.

You need to find a 1968 Steyr to be reasonably accurate.

The serial number and import stamps will be wrong.

FYI.

The Bulldog frame has the serial number and thus is the controlled part of the gun, so it most likely will be treated as a complete real gun.

That's why I'm talking to a friend who's a machinist and metalsmith to just fabricate those pieces for me accurately... he said he can do it but it won't be cheap at all...

Would he be doing a Cad program and then CNC?

Most likely...I was going to scan the frame into a computer and have him CAD it then using a plasma cutter CNC machine to make the parts!? Not sure if he's 100% sure yet but if it works out I might have him do me a few up to help me cover my own costs...this does not in any way mean I will be "offering a run" of these because I will not! But maybe if it works out for me I can see if he will make me a few...

Lolol, you guys now are making me want to not get a prop, but to get the real gun version one day lol. BTW thank you all for making this thread so helpful to me and everything!

O yea, since I know of a few people who now make such good replica of the gun. Can any of you tell me if any more good pre made one will be coming out soon beside the upcoming Tomenosuke's Blaster? Thank you.

TheHeroFromDOOM, Elfin Knights are reportedly releasing a new blaster and here's what Macky wrote about the new release on PropSummit:

Japanese Blaster Meister Ryosuke Takagi, will release a new blaster from MULE(CRAFT APPLE WORKS).
Features of this blaster.
Magazine is screwed to be the same as the hero blaster.
It is designed to research the Hero Blaster and real gun.
This model is characterized by the hero blaster than TOMENOSUKE.

I have a Richard Coyle kit I'm getting parts for. just got the real front trigger In last week. a fine replica It Is. but I want a steel one. all steel......

Why all steel?

You can get a good idea of what's steel and what's not from the Worldcon pictures. The gun was not well kept after the movie production, as the steel is covered and pitted with rust. The extended trigger guard is rusted; steel. The exposed bare metal of grip and butt plate are not rusted, which indicates that they were made from aluminum; aluminum doesn't rust like steel. It's likely the cosmetic cylinder covers were also made from aluminum, as it wouldn't make sense to machine them out of steel.

Aluminum has been used to make firearm frames and receivers for decades, so it's not like aluminum isn't strong enough for a firearm.

Yes..I do know most of this...though many others may not. I have been studying the blaster for a few years now... aluminum is obviously way easier to work with...the aluminum frame will be considerably lighter AND cheaper for me to get made...cost is my main issue...I don't know why Sean needs all steel...it will be way too heavy as well!? The original prop used a Charter Arms .44 Bulldog...the grip frame is aluminum I believe... the rest of the gun is pretty cheaply made too...they were not the most reliable side arms to begin with from what I understand!??? However... the Steyr receiver was steel and all the other parts you mentioned...a combo would be just fine get all the BD parts you can find and get a frame made...put them on it and then get a Steyr made...bam...PKD...sounds easy...its NOT ..

Well maybe not all steel. but I would want the receiver and bolt and end cap In steel for sure. but this Is just a future dream of mine. shoot I work all day long sometimes grinding on steel. one day I may see what could be done by hand. as far as the receiver goes...

I doubt you'll be able to get an aluminum Bulldog replica frame machined cheaper than the actual gun. A used Bulldog goes for about $200 and California may be antigun; but they haven't tried banning revolvers, yet.

Well If I buy the pistol. I will have more spare part's. and then I would still want another bulldog frame for those part's.lol
